Hey guys, I currently have 8k HIDs and have been debating lately wether or not to get LEDs and be done with my HIDs due to ballasts, flickering, some not turning on at first, etc. Should I make the switch to LEDs or not? Thanks!

they burned out way to fast, some lasted 4 months other pairs died the same weekend they went in. The beam was not focused at all and had tons of scatter to the light. Crazy good light output when they worked and I liked the color but they were just no good. I've gone back to Silverstar Ultras that I ran before, I get around 2 years from a set of these normally. Although now that I wrote that I will have one go out now :annoyed:

I had mine through a company called lifetime led, they can say what they want but they were shit. Also if one died you had to send it back, for me that was 1 week each direction in shipping, I just cant go 2 weeks without a light.

5500K projector retrofit, or go back to halogens.

Just buy a good quality HID set up from the retrofit source and you wont have any of those issues you described. All the parts are covered by years of warranty and theyre top notch.
The cheap, garbage HID set ups will give you the issues youre describing
You can buy the individual ballasts, wiring harness and ignitors and then just use your existing bulbs and what not. Definitely worth it.

Projector retrofit. LEDs are often worse than stock.

I agree with @TRSAndrew LEDs have not really been refined yet. I'm giving it another year or two before I switch to LED. right now HID is more reliable, and has way better light output. I'd go for a 6000K HID. If you really want LED, then I would be patient and see what happens by next spring

Make sure you do a full projector retrofit if you go the HIDs route. And get something other than 8000K if you want the ability to see at night. Ideally 4500K or 5500K.
