So the weirdest thing happened this morning... I moved my seat one click forward and I swear it decreased the vibration in the pedal. I switched it back and forth a couple times and felt the same thing. I know this makes zero sense, but I'm curious to see if it's the same on my drive home. It's also interesting because my wife is short and has to move the seat way forward. She swears she doesn't notice the vibration.

I'm very interested in seeing if anyone can reduce or eliminate the vibrations in their steering wheel through exhaust system changes. Are the pedal vibrations and steering wheel vibrations related?

Does anyone have a video of how bad these steering wheel vibrations are?

I asked way back and was told that it's not something you can see... you can only feel it.

I believe the pedal and steering wheel vibration is related. They are both the buzzing type. Different members have different "locations" where it is the worst. For example, mine is worse in the steering wheel, middle floor and pedal. I have minimal vibration (comparitively) in the dead pedal footrest where one member says his is the worst. But I believe they are all related.

You can't capture it on video. You feel the buzzing but don't actually see it. It is almost the exact same vibration (although not intensity wise) as a cell phone vibrating (which you can't really see either). So, hold your cellphone while it vibrates and you'll have a good idea of what it feels like (but again, less intense than that).

Mine sounds like that also. Figured it was the heat shields and accept it as a Toyota thing.

How many miles do most of you have on the truck? I've been avoiding the bad range like the plague but today I said what the hell and decided to cruise along in 6th on the highway. I'm at 3750 miles. So I go into 6th, RPM drops to 2400...wait what, no buzzing...ok so I start to go slower (on an incline) to 2300 and apply some gas on the incline...the very slightest of buzzing in the wheel (I would not notice if I wasn't looking for it). What the hell. So I really start to pay attention to this. Drop to 2200 and hit the gas, still only slight buzzing. Ok now I will really put it to the test. Let it drop to 1900-2000 in 6th and hit the gas, Ahhh there we are back to the strong buzz. But as soon as it got past maybe 2200 it was barely going on.

So I can say that someway somehow my buzzing has changed and for the better. I haven't done anything different. It is 80 degrees today, and I haven't touched anything mechanically on the truck in a while. Odd as odd can be. Maybe it was just a unicorn day today. I'll keep checking as days go on.

It has gone from completely unbearable between 2000-2500 RPM to "livable" outside of letting it drop to 1900-2000 RPM and hitting the gas.

Still going to give the Borla a try to see if it eliminates it, but I wonder if people have noticed any changes as their mileage has gotten higher.

You're right, it could have just been a lucky day. I haven't cruised in that range for a while now (so thankful for being able to choose where I'm at with the manual).

I am at 8,500 miles on my TRD OFF-ROAD 6cyl AT DC picked up in November. I do not have, nor have I ever had, any noticeable vibes or buzz at all in my vehicle at any rpm though I have looked very hard for some sign thereof.

I have noticed the same thing. Good days/conditions and bad days. Mine is not as bad as some, but it can be annoying. Like you I have a manual and just choose a gear outside the bad range when ever possible. It is amazing how smooth the steering wheel can be when you never load the engine in the danger zone.

This is really still my biggest complaint on this truck. Otherwise I love it.

My truck only slightly buzzed in the gas pedal from the start with no steering wheel vibrations. Lately, I notice that it is barely noticeable even when I'm trying to be hypersensitive to it. My truck has 2300 miles.

I may not get an exhaust now, but if I do I'll try Dynomax Super Turbo. The Borla muffler was too loud for me.

This is my last Tacoma. My previous 6 new Tacomas were great, but the 2016 issues have turned me off from purchasing another Tacoma. I will stick with my new "made in Japan" Land Cruiser and will probably revert to a different brand pickup next year.

I just canceled my order of a 2016 TRD OR M/T. I'm deferring my purchase until the 2017s come out.

My salesman is checking if he can do a refund on my deposit. I feel bad for the dealership because I've initially switched my order from an A/T to an M/T, and now I'm canceling. But I have to do what I think is right for me. If it means I lose my money now, then I consider it a lesson to never buy a vehicle on its 1st model year.

When I started my car search, I was really hoping that people would be bragging about their 3rd gen Tacos, like how I was a proud owner of my 07. But all the negative discussions has really deflated my interest. I for one am very particular about my cars so I know I'd be unhappy if I experienced any of the issues.

I've sold my car, so for the time-being I'm going to drive my son's Mazda tribute. He's away in basic training for Army National Guard this summer at Fort Sill and will be back at the U of Minnesota come fall so he shouldn't need his car during weekdays.

Gotta do what's right for you and your hard earned cash man. I only have the buzzy vibe in the
left foot rest, can't feel it anywhere else and if I move my foot a bit, zero issues with the truck, which
is a good thing, I love it and have already put about 4k in accessories on it.

I hate to hear that. You have to do what you think is best otherwise you may regret once if it bothers you. It is very easy to get overwelmed by the forum's negativities. The 3rd gen owners bring up concerns while some of the 2nd gen owners stir the pot.

I can say that after getting mine in the mountains on a mix of dirt and pavement, i am very happy with.

It never hurts to let all of the bugs get worked out. I knew this going into buying a first year.

Forum time is inversely proportional to truck satisfaction. :D

You guys are right. This has been so stressful. I told my salesman that I'm opting for them to keep my deposit 'cause I appreciate all the work that he did for me, and we canceled the order during our phone conversation. The truck build date actually changed to June 11 from June 6th, and would arrive at the dealership on the 20th.

I just emailed my salesman again to ask for a written note about the order cancellation, and also said that if there is anything that's legally binding me to purchase the vehicle, then I'd rather go thru the purchase than settle in a legal manner. I haven't heard back.

Unless you signed a contract (which would be odd) when putting down the deposit, they should refund you the deposit. The vehicle wasn't custom built by Toyota for you and it will still be sold. They simply changed a list of available options around to something you would prefer.

I'd get the deposit back. It isn't your fault toyota hasn't impressed you after researching the vehicle more.

I don't suspect that truck will even last 2 weeks on the lot.
