The engine is different than others I have driven. It can feel weak if your throttle technique is to push the pedal down "X" amount and leave it there until you reach your desired mph. This works fairly well on many, if not most vehicles. However if you modify your throttle manipulation technique the engine response is much better. The technique I am referring to will be understood by those who have experienced riding a motorcycle equipped with flat-side Keihin carbs. Stabbing the throttle open and then waiting for the revs to build is an exercise in futility, but if you "roll on" the throttle it responds linearly and with whatever power is on tap.

When leaving a stoplight, push the Tacoma's throttle down firmly enough that it leaves smartly, but not wheel-spinning acceleration, as the truck gains momentum the acceleration rate will drop off. Don't wait for that to happen, instead just very slightly keep increasing how far you push the accelerator down until the truck is almost at the mph desired. Lightly feather off the accelerator as you reach your target speed. It sounds much more complicated than it is, in practice it quickly becomes second nature.

That's a great way of putting it, and that's the approach I went with yesterday on my test drive.

And this was with a truck that isn't even broken in yet. I expect it to only get better :bananadance:

They get so much better after about 2500 miles. You can feel everything break in and feel smoother.

The first test drive I took was on a DCSB that had 3 miles on it...it was awful. I asked to drive on with a few more miles (I think it was 138) and it was so much better. Anyone that test drives one right off the truck will get the wrong impression.

I also agree on the acceleration technique. I had a 2015 Cherokee Trailhawk before this that was exactly the same way, so I think I adapted to it faster than most.

So you went from silver to blue to inferno

Looks like QS will be next. :D

It takes a while for people to pick the perfect color but it always comes down to inferno vs QS , two best colors in the 16 till the cement comes in 17

    :D

Same way with the ford ecoboost, the turbo seems to spool quicker with light acceleration and then rolling on the throttle briskly.

I was riding my bike through town the other day, and I almost got run over by a white 3rd gen. After I was done shitting myself, I looked up and said, GOT DAMN, that's a good looking truck!!

But...........I've already done the storm trooper look with my 2009, and we must progress.

Yea, Mobtown switched to Ford (family reasons), so designing now relies on the kindness of other Tacoma owners.

I always wonder why some dealers won't get what someone wants in color/model/options. I told my dealer specifically what I wanted and what color I wanted. The next day they said it was in Tennessee (I'm in Columbus, OH) and they would get it for me. They even emailed me the VIN so I could verify it was exactly what I wanted. 6 days later it was delivered to the dealer and I picked it up the day after that.

I was looking at the Colorado/Canyon too, but I went to 6 different dealers and not a damn one of them was interested in finding me what I wanted, they tried to sell me what was on their lot - sometimes WAY different than what I was looking for. It pissed me off and turned me against GM - it will be a cold day in Hell before I look at another one of their products.

I guess my point is that if you want Silver Sky Metallic, then find a dealer that will get it for you and tell the other ones to go f themselves. It's your hard earned money.

    (end of rant)

It's been done for two weeks now but we are at the mercy of a 3rd gen owner. Just waiting for them to return for final fit check so we can run huge batches.

It was mocked up once, made our minor tweaks and ran it again which is what's in the photo. It should be spot on but we won't sell until it's on the truck and we know for a fact it's 100%.
