Hey all, I'm aware that many a thread is opened for the crazy shifting trannys on the 09 tacos. I just called to set my appointment up to fix this problem and this is what the service rep told me. " All service technicians here (Goldsboro, NC) are going through a class in january for your vehicle. Major changes are coming down from Toyota regarding this issue. Whether it is another reflash or a replcement of something, I am not sure, but Toyota realised this is a big problem for this model year." So needless to say I'm waiting to see what comes down. Just figure i would pass the word. Thanks for your time gents.

I sure hope this will apply to the 2010 Tacos as well. I purposely drove around today in our neighborhood making slow turns, under 20 MPH, and noting how the transmission was acting. I must say, the trans does display the lagging, or searching gear symptoms, however, that's the only time I notice it. All other shifting as you accelerate, hard or slowly, the transmission shifts solidly. I actually like the deceleration from the transmission as it down shifts to a lower gear as you coast approaching a stop light, turn, etc. Seems to me that will save braking, and in the long run, save a bit of life on the brakes. My two cents... I was going to set up an appointment to have the trans TSB ECM reflashed. With this news, I might wait until the dust settles next month and see if Toyota makes any announcements regarding the fix. Happy New Year to All..:)!

Any updates on getting the transmission fixed? My 2009 tacoma trans slips when going from reverse to drive. This may be a really dumb question but, will getting a chip fix this?
