What is bird camera view? Sounds cool.

On another note, I'd actually be surprised if there weren't 1-2+ employees of GM, Nissan, etc. on this forum trying to influence overall opinions of the truck. It'd almost be foolish not to do that.

This thread has really encouraged me. I ordered my truck at the end of March and I've become somewhat obsessed with reading about the issues on this forum. I've been going back and forth in my head wondering if I should've gotten a 4R or something else, but over 90% of the people on here are happy with their trucks. When you think about how anal and fussy some people are, that's a fucking amazing number! I bet ya a solid 10% of the people out there wouldn't be pleased no matter how badass the truck was... 350HP, 325 lb-ft torque at 4000 RPM, 12" clearance, adjustable freaking seats for the whiners, etc. These numbers are great.

Truck was supposed to come in today. Im picking it up 900 miles away so I won't be able to get it for another week, but: I'm. Fucking. Psyched!

If you listen to some of the negative ppl here, you'll be buying a POS from another maker. I'm not a fan boy, I vote with my money, I wouldn't buy Toyota if there was something better for the money.
If Lexus would offer a PU I'd buy it b/c they're made in Japan like the 4R. Hate to say it, but Toyota went to chit when they started making them elsewhere with non-Japanese labor and management.

I have 5,000 miles on my 16 DC OR SB and had to replace my driver side leaf spring. It started leaning and it pretty much creaked since day one. Hopefully this fixes the problem. I hate the truck below 2,000rpm, but Love passing power. Hate diving with cruise control- some strange programming or something.

I do hope that your truck gets sorted out. One terrible thing about mass production is that there are a few that have an issue. I am terribly sorry. But one thing I have confidence in is that your truck will take care of u once they fix the issue.
I bout a little car for gas mileage once, and it was the same thing in the shop the first 2 months that I owned it.
Just have faith in your new family member, he gets taken care of. I know he will take care of u for the long haul.
Keep us posted on results, maybe something we all need to look out for.
    Again very sorry, =(

It makes very little sense. My gals 2016 4Runner SR5 has mat locks on both sides....also has a gas cap holder. How hard is it to put that in a taco?! Not to mention an upper trim level tacoma

It's not like we're treading new ground here, shouldn't be difficult to transfer to the other platform at minimal cost.

Got another problem, my truck is faster than it would appear. :D

Going to court on a speeding ticket and I just had my speedo calibrated to provide documentation for the judge, according to this certifying agent, my speedometer is off a little bit from a calibrated dyno and my tire size was only increased one size up from stock. 265/75 instead of the OEM 265/70.

This is a copy of the results, signed copy is with the lawyer for submission.

    1465042122825163542585.jpg

Looks like I just might beat that reckless driving charge (20mph over speed limit) after all and get it lowered to a simple speeding ticket. :bananadance:

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
    .
A few small issues (like most new vehicles) but love the Tacoma overall and would purchase it again.

IMO, for a new model series, Toyota did a good overall job.

And if I owned a Colorado, I would have to wear those "skinny jeans" to drive it.

My 2015 has mat locks on both sides...:boink:

On another note good to see guys without problems too. Its a new truck with amped up production and demand, some things are gonna be missed. The one thing I don't understand is the Toyota CS. I have always had fantastic CS with Toyota, part of the reason I keep buying them, sad to see some guys getting the run around on their new $35k+ purchases.

I kind of miss my Colorado, I did say, "Kind of." I wore bib overalls and let it all hang out when I drove my Colorado. Come to think of it I do the same driving my Tacoma! :)

How do you figure? Mass production has been around since the 1900's and anything with an assembly line is essentially mass production. Anything that comes out of most dealer's mouth's are garbage these days (rare exceptions), most people on this forum have a better product knowledge than salesman, etc. Unless your buying a Mercedes SLR or lambo, etc. which are hand built your Toyota is mass produced.

Ok I solved the problem with that pesky gas cap holder. Now to move on to those passenger side floor mats. Hmmm...

I can always remedy that situation in my 3rd gen, it's not worth dropping down to a 2nd gen to fix.

Double sided tape and vecro will work for the passenger side.

Exactly! It's even in the manual....
Over time it becomes easier to understand why some people have the big problems they have.

It's really funny to me that this stuff isn't standard. I thought I just didn't understand how the gas cap holder worked the first time I popped it open. Sitting there like an idiot trying to figure out how the cap attached.

Then realizing it wasn't some really clever Japanese engineering trick that I didn't understand--it just didn't have a gas cap holder. On a $35k 2016 upper trim level vehicle.

They saved what? $.50 ...maybe $2.00 when you include the massive labor outlay /sarcasm. Same with the clip for the floor mats.

We'll see what happens on next years model. They might have left some of these "obvious" features out so that next year would have room to improve. 2017 Tacoma: "Look everyone! We listened to feedback and now has: gas cap holders, passenger mat retainer clips, automatic locking tailgate that ties into the power lock system/keyless fob, and automatic lights for all TRD models."

Damn. I thought I invented something.... Wait, TW Breaking News

    Reporter:
We are on the scene of 4 kittens trapped in a well. Emergency workers are frantically working to free them. A local resident witnessed the incident. Sir, can you tell us your name and what you saw.

Smitty: Uh, Smitty. I didn't actually see them but I'm certain the kittens saw my fugly POS 2016 turd gen Tacoma shifting erratically and jumped into the well in terror.

Reporter: Well there you have it. Unless you hate kittens, stay away from the 2016 Tacoma.

My experience with Toyota customer service has been excellent (with the exception of the first service rep I dealt with--he was a dismissive douchebag). I was polite but firm, and the only time I "chewed out" anyone, was the aforementioned service rep. I didn't feel like I had to with anyone else. I definitely needed to be firm on a few occasions and didn't accept bogus answers. The service manager at my dealership and the corporate case manager were both solid and are the only reason I didn't spam Toyota on twitter or park my truck in front of the dealership with a bunch of signs that said "$35K vibrators sold here" "Tacoma Lemons sold here#LetsGoPlaces" "2016 Tacomas Have major mechanical issues" etc.

I'm curious how everyone is approaching corporate. Obviously, I believe there are some shitty d-bags that work for toyota, but I wonder how much of "toyota's shitty CS" is caused by customers being unreasonable, emotional a-holes.
