Do you have any more specifics on the types of lifts you're looking at?

You can fit 33s and 35s on a 3 inch lift. But the brand/quality makes a huge difference.

    Two things missing:

    1) 3" with 285's

    2) 3" with 35's

Yeah guess I should have put that in there huh. Thanks. Right now I'm looking at zone and bds. As far as off reading is concerned it will be to and from hunting camp the beach and what ever I decide to drive over but nothing extreme like rock crawling

I love the look of a big lift, but if my rig is more a daily driver so my practical side comes out more- How much wheeling are you thinking and what type? The route I am going is a lower lift with 31", after market bumper and sliders- that will get me through everything I would like to take the toyota through.

Due to where I currently live in NYC it's only about 2 weeks a year for hunting with several beach trips a year but that is only till next summer once I go back south it will be at least every other weekend

Just giving you a hard time...

Zone is like Tuff Country. Cheap quality. I use to be a diesel tech apprentice and we have installed some of their lifts on customer's rides and they are just crap quality in my opinion. I rarely see any Tacoma owners even look at them.

    @JcDillon check out/google:

    toytec lifts

    headstrong offroad

    wheelers offroad

awesome sellers that use mainly bilstein, eibach, OME, fox, icon, etc. - good stuff, yet have affordable options.

    I just finished my lift.

    3" with 255/85/16s (33s)

Love it and looks and rides great.

    Just another option

I too vote 255 with a three inch. Very good performance, no tire rub.

Ultimately it's up to your personal preference based on what you like and what you're building the truck to do.

If you plan on off road (sounds like you're going to get off pavement to an extent) a popular setup is 3" and 285 tires because it's a somewhat simple setup that works. I do, however, also like he 255/85 route. I opted for 285s for my next setup simple because I like a little more width, but was on the fence heavily.

As you research, you'll realize the exact inches you lift the vehicle become more redundant as you go up in lift quality. And a lot of suspension setups are adjustable as well, which is awesome. Let's you play with it more.

Where I'm going with this is, you do you, but remember you get what you paid for

However, if you're asking my opinion, just out the saw and run 35s on a 3" lift :sawzall::welder::itllbuffout::stirthepot:
