    Stand firm!
I wouldn't take that truck back no ands ifs or buts about it....tell to consult your lemon law attorney.
When they call "Hey Lindsey, your new truck is rebuilt! Come pick her up!"
You "Call my lemon law attorney xxx-xxx-xxxx"
Them "Whaaaat? But, but but your brandy new truck is finished it only took a few weeks, c'mon be a sport, it is better than new!"
You "Call my lemon law attorney xxx-xxx-xxxx"
Repeat, do not waver. You really do not have to say much more than that and your Toyota Corp case #.
I would not get into any convo with the service dept at this point except those two statements.
Be prepared, they probably won't like it...but stick to your guns. :infantry:

I cannot refuse to pick up my vehicle. For me to tell them I will not pick up my property is harming me more than helping.
I am bound by the rental car company who operates independently from Toyota to return the rental once my truck becomes available.

Truck was supposed to be ready last week on Friday. They got busy over Memorial Day and called back on Wednesday saying that the truck was running but Corporate did not send out spark plugs....So that added another day to the repair.
On that note, the SW called and said my truck will be ready for pick up in the morning.
I talked to the lawyer today and she said that Toyota is one of the most difficult companies to go up against in court. She said that, because of this, the stronger the case you can build, the better. I'm going to pick up the truck and see how it runs and take it back if anything - anything - is off.
I am still pursuing the replacement vehicle through corporate. They sent me a letter requesting several documents to begin the investigation.
Enterprise and I keep crossing paths about what I do about the cracked rental car windshield. I'm dreading that more than anything now but I am hoping my car insurance will take care of it without much hassle.

Will update in the morning once I get my truck.

Good luck! My advice about the windshield...just be as nice and honest about it as possible. You may luck out and get a rental agent who is cool about it. Worst case, it will likely go through your insurance - who should deal with it rather than you.

I think you need to buy some powerball tickets. You should have some positive karma coming your way after this nonsense. Hope it works out for you picking it up tomorrow.

Haha, powerball tickets are in hand -- I can only go up from here!
Picked up the truck today and turned in the rental. Enterprise was not open so I just dropped it off, told the service writer and said I would call to figure everything out on Monday. That crack starts from the center of the windshield near the rear view mirror and spans completely across the passenger side. I did a good number apparently!

Jump in the truck and things sounded fine. Pulled out and had about 20 miles home -- mix of freeway and back country road. I noticed as soon as I pulled onto the freeway that the truck felt really laggy. I would accelerate and it felt like it wouldn't shift smartly into gear. I'd sort of lug into it. I felt like I was towing something behind me or carrying around tons of extra weight somewhere. The engine just wasn't responding as snappy as I recall. I took it up a windy back road and would hear a sort of "woosh" vacuum-like noise when I would accelerate. Almost a whine? Definitely wasn't there when I had the truck beforehand.
I'm not sure about all this "engine learning the drivers habits" hype but, if they replaced the short block, could that be what's going on? It just needs time to re-learn my asshole driving habits?

Regardless, I'm meeting with the lawyer Monday or Tuesday - whenever she can get me in. I have the repair order and all documentation to bring to her.
"Making up" another repair attempt or not...this will probably be going back to the dealership anyway for that noise and lack of impulse.

Haha, I can do that. Here are the pics of the amazing crack.
Poor picture but you get the idea. You have to look close but it spans pretty good towards the right.

Here is the laundry list of repairs....

The date it arrived (sort of...it broke down on the 16th / Sunday but I guess the service was generated the day after), the date I purchased the truck and the date I picked it up following this repair.

Holy hell....I don't think that truck will ever be the same if those repairs are being done by dealership techs.

The laggy feeling and strange sounds could be something was not connected properly, such as a vacuum hose or something like that. They did have all the hoses and wires disconnected and were likely rushing to get it back together, so its a strong possibility a connection is not tight. Hopefully all is well with the rental car deal and that will go smoothly.
Its obvious we will never know the determined cause of failure and looking at the parts list it seems they did not replace any injectors, just the o- rings. That tells me either they were not sure of an actual cause and if it were a failed injector initially they reused the originals which could result in another failure, or, they know exactly what happened and know for sure it was not any external parts that failed, which leads back to the theory of someone draining the oil at your 5k service.
Just hang in there and continue working on getting a new truck, because this one does not sound like it is fixed.

    Hi Again,

This is just terrible, I really feel for you.

And yes, I still believe, more now than ever; that something out of the ordinary happened in that dealership, on your first service.

After all of this, I don't ever think, you will ever know the truth.

Just hang in there; yea I know, but you have to stay with it.
