Yep, well it's supposed to lol. I have a TRD sticker under the hood that says they're 50 state legal.

Toyota passed it before selling it to me but I don't trust them any further than I can thrown them. I'm basing it off what TRD guarantees though, I have one decal for the headers and one for the s/c under the hood.

hes a good guy actually making me a hi lift mount since its extremely difficult to get hand between bed and body on a 1st gen.

My truck is fixed, woo!

Mechanic told me that when I went off-roading and hit the skid plate, it pushed it up into the transfer case which is what was causing it to rub up against it when I shifted under high RPM. Took the skid off and bent it back into place, reattached it and it's supposedly good to go now. Going to pick it up now!

 

side note: I sure am glad that the previous owner put that skid plate there, because I would've nailed the transfer case on that rock otherwise. Definitely not taking on a trail like that again until I'm lifted and armored all around

With that said...Its safe to say you made it through miller jeep trail with a stock set up and no real damage. That's pretty impressive!!

 

Haha thanks! Though I shudder to think of how bad it could've been had I hit the t-case and lost 4x4 halfway up that hill way out there....

 

I think I'm going to feel like half of a man until I go back and conquer MJT.

 

You ever get it fixed? I've got my hi lift, not sure what size it is lol, but it picked up my front end enough to droop out my suspension fully. Let me know if you need a hand

I've decided I'm going to give Toyota of Pasadena a little break on their retarded floor mat theory, I didnt tell them I was off roading when the issue came up (didn't want to jeopardize the warranty). But still, floor mats...really??

 

You'd think they'd try their "fix" and attempt to recreate it? Maybe he babied the tranny and it didn't make the noise.

Glad to hear it was a relatively simple fix; sometimes you gotta get that guy who has a slightly different perspective on it, yknow?

 

Agreed...I honestly don't think that the Pasadena Toyota dealership even test drove my truck, they took all day to call me back and when they did it was just before closing and they said that the mechanic "finally had an opportunity to test drive it, it's your floor mats" Fortunately they didn't charge me for that brilliant "fix".

This is why I always like to try and find a good mom 'n pop type mechanic...someone who's honest and truly appreciates what building a good reputation means for a business. Dealerships (not all, but many of them) just seem to be about the bottom line and moving people through as quickly as possible by any means necessary.
