I do my own. No hassle going to oil change manglers. I can also check things out while I'm under there and perform the required lube. I use the oil and filters I choose and never have issues with over / under filled or tightened oil or hardware.

i was gonna let the stealership do it, when i told them to torque the drain to 30 ft lbs, they argues that thats way too much and thats half of what you torque tires too, so they said theyd do 30 inch lbs...needless to say i changed my own oil

also i still have a short they keep missing, i know im a stringent ass when it comes to servicing the truck but i expect it to be done right

I'm just curious, and no offense, but if you buy specific items like that you obviously care about the maintenance of your truck. Why not save yourself that $13 and do it yourself, and know that it's been done correctly and with the proper care?

maybe he just wants to keep the oil changes on record. I thought about doing this but instead I just keep the reciepts and write the milage at the time of the oil change.

The dealership for now, but because I am getting married I will start doing the routine maintenance myself because it is a quarter of the price.

honestly these trucks (05+ tacoma) are the easiest vehicle i have ever done an oil change on! open the hood, the filter is right in front of your face. under the truck the skid plate has a cutout for the oil pan bolt. cant get much easier than that. no banging up your knuckles or burning your arm on the exhaust manifold looking for the oil filter!

    Mobil 1 5W-30 & OEM Toyota filter
A fully synthetic motor oil, Mobil 1 5W-30 with SuperSyn Technology, is the approved and the first choice of many premium car manufacturers.

I do them myself, and so far discovered that the blitz oil containers are useless... you mid as well just let the oil pour onto the ground.

Got the wedco oil container, feels much more solid...

i also do it myself, on my truck and the corolla! those oil change guys the dealership hires are not a certified mechanic, they are just some kid that gets minimum wage to change oil! I'm not trusting my truck to just anybody! diy!

    .

I change my own oil ... do not trust others to change my oil.

Changing the oil in a Tacoma V6 is a piece of cake compared to a Tundra 5.7 V8 cartridge type oil filter element.

None currently, but I would like a better sounding exhaust and perhaps a cold air pack and some color coded step bars
Have to say that I would not let Jiffy Lube open the hood of my truck , never mind change the oil out.
I do like the satisfaction of doing it myself, even though I do it outdoors, which necessitates good weather , as I live in the North East. Spring and fall, mostly. Its always good to find a good mechanice thats trust worthy.

I always look at the drain plug for signs of metal particles , never find any but I do like to do that. I use Mobil One extended oil and I usually put on 12-14K per year.

I have a buddy with a tire shop that also does oil changes. I usually get him to change my oil, as he has a furnace in his garage that burns used motoroils as fuel. It's handy for me, his garage is only a couple of blocks from where I work and I don't have to worry about disposing of the used oil.

i have never paid anyone to change the oil of any vehicle i have ever owned, until now... now i let toyota do it, mostly because i prepaid for the maintenance when i purchased the truck and i figure if i have any warranty issues they cant blame it on lack of or improper maintenance. but to be honest, i don't really miss crawling under there.
