I don't use red loctite on things I'm going to eventually need to remove.

It's actually not that strong. I break red loctite all the time. On bigger bolts it's not a big deal. Smaller bolts might break though

5/16" or less and red will break them, I use Blue. Red on anything 3/8" or bigger.

I've broken too many smaller bolts with loctite. Jam nut will do just fine.

Anyone know if you can run a supercharged engine sans supercharger belt? IE is there an internal bypass? 3.4L

No. Just have a strange belt/bearing noise. Wondering if it was an alternator. Only way to really know before I tear it apart is to remove the belt. Same noise in all gears. All dependent on load

I've never done outers and heard they are a bit more tedious/difficult. Inners aren't bad at all.

    1. Cut the old boot and pull the inner shaft end off.
    2. Clean all the grease off the shaft and out of the cup.
    3. Push down on the tulip joint and remove the c clip (hard to see and you need to push it down a bit).
    4. Remove the tulip joint and remove the old boot.
    5. Put the new boot on and repeat the process.

    Simple but messy.

Yeah the engine will run without the belt, but the alternator won't be charging your battery so it will die eventually.

I literally just need to go around the block. So distance isnt going to be great. I am charging between 13.7 and 13.9 so I wouldn't be surprised if the alt was on its way out.

Annoying sound. Plus some SC mixed in...

Hoops save lives or at least hoods and I like the way they look.

Got to play around with a 4Runner a little bit over the weekend. 2008 V8 4x4 ... soon w/ Total Chaos Fabrication 3.5" Race Series Kit, King Shocks, Baja Designs Lights (30" OnX6 up front). Will try to take some higher resolution pics later. Thought I'd share with the 4R crowd.
