crutchfield...

anyone get a headunit from crutchfield before?
is it hard install? i never put one on myself, they say is easy, just want to make sure its true.... and i read some other review about the new kit turning double din into single is cheap and go to shoche kit?

I was looking at this clarion that's pretty bad ass!

 

ive ordered all my units and speakers from them, the fact that theyre only 2 hours from me played a deal in that. ive never had a problem with them and recommend good things for you and everything you will need wires and harnesses come with it. ive also gone from single din to a double din and both were very easy installs

 

Crutchfield is a VERY reputable company with GREAT customer service. If you are mechanically inclined it should be a very easy installation. If you run into any problems during the installation you can always call Crutchfield and they will be more then happy to help.

 

One of the best companies I have ever dealt with period. I highly reccommend them.

 

so what did u guys use to pry the heating-air/condition control out? I dont want to damage my truck in anyway, I just want to make sure its done right! Am i going have to cut any wires or anything??!

 

Like other's have said, Crutchfield is awesome! My last two units were from them and I've never had any problems. Top notch CS too!

 

Small screwdriver to pry out temp control, no cutting of wires use provided wire harness and make all connections to head unit and plug them in.

 

a butter knife would work as well...be careful that plastic scratched very easily, I found out the hard way...

 

The absolute best company I have ever dealt with for anything. You get all the parts you need to install it yourself. Speakers come with all the mounting plates and everything... and the dont cost a ton of money like ********* charges.

One time they accidentally forgot to ship me a product. I called them and told them, and they sent it over night.

 

Installing a new HU in the Second Gen Tacoma is a snap. There's a ton of info here and other sites on how to do it, and most have pictures. My son likes to tinker with mods on his car, so he helped me out. I had never done a HU install before, but once we got into the project I knew I could have done it myself.

The one part that was a PITA for me was getting the clock section out of the OEM unit to install into the new dash kit. I was trying to be gentle so I could sell the original radio.

that is a really good idea... but I worry about busting the a/c controls because they are plastic... I guess since u are so confident on crutchfield, I guess I'll get one myself... It says might not compatiable with flip down..
does anyone have a flip down?

I wish it was summer all year so I work my truck all year around... *sigh* damn winter!

I also ordered the wiring adapter for the Taco. Soldered up all the leads to the head unit carefully insulating everything and plugged it in. Easy doesn't describe it.

 

haha me too. I was using an awl and slipped...oops diagonal scratch. Oh well. My girlfriend's dad does auto interior repair and touch up's at a lot of the dealerships around here so I will get him to fix it one of these days.

 

I just got a pioneer headunit from crutchfield for christmas and I have nothing but good things to say about them. I would absolutely order from them again and recommend them to anyone. I think their prices are very competitive and sometimes lower than other places, plus they include all of the necessary mounting hardware and instructions. I even received a free usb i-pod cable for my deck...crutchfield is the best hands down.

 

+1 on Crutchfield. Sure they sell everything at retail but what you are really buying is piece of mind. Their customer service is top nouch and are willing to bend over backward to make sure that you are fully satisfied with your product. Just dont blame them for any spotty craftsmanship that you end up doing if you arent comfortable with the job. They are always a phone call away.

 

Well, they certainly aren't cheap, but they are absolutely one of the best, most easy to deal with companies that I've ever worked with. I am willing to pay the extra to know they are just a phone call away.

 

Yeah, Crutchfield is top notch their customer service reps are really helpful and knowledgeable. The prices are more expensive than other sites but you get a more for your money. I think I will get a new HU from them soon.
