What helped me the best was meal prepping. I meal prep my lunches for work since I have a fridge and a microwave at the office.

Typical lunch is smoked turkey sausage with brown rice and a veggie. This week is corn. I substitute the protein weekly so I don't get bored. 1/2 cup of each and this comes in at 415 calories for lunch.

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
Ate like shit this weekend. Paid for it on the scale. Back to healthy habits. No fast food during the week...

Making steak fajitas tonight. Need to try to find a lower sodium seasoning for the meat though.

I kept reading that FitBit sizing guides were a little off, and people saying the Charge HR wristband was smaller than advertised. So I paid a premium for the XL activity band ($159) compared to the large activity band ($130), since my wrists measured 8.5" (XL goes to 8.7") and I'm on the last notch in the band (smallest setting).

    :bananadead:

Total opposite experience than what everything suggested with their band sizing.

2 authentic Mexican carne asada tacos for lunch. No rice and beans but guac and pico. Dinner will be chicken, rice, and broccoli. Also beer. But I'm going for a 3 mile run after work so that'll help some

Still floating around 239 this week. Should be a good week. My boss messed me up though. Twice a week I work a little later than normal and on those days I eat about a little extra for lunch to get through the day. After I finished eating she informed me she couldn't stay tonight. Damn it

In MyFitnessPal, I use the exercise along with my calories to get my total daily NET calories. I set my goal for 1700 calories per day, and that includes exercise. The more I exercise, the more I can eat.

    @95 taco

I have read how FitBit estimates calories burned, but there's no way it's working properly.

Before I even got out of bed it said I'd burned 860 calories? Right now it says 1627.

    I am missing something.

One of the reasons I've resisted getting one. That kind of inaccuracy would drive me nuts.
$139 plus and this is what you can expect? I can accept my own inaccuracies, not that kind for that kind of money. And I do love my gadgets.

My wife has the same issue with the HR. It shows she burns way more than she possibly can each day. What can you expect when it's on the wrist. Too bad you can't adjust an offset or something on it to compensate for your average extra movement that doesn't really burn calories. She still loves the step tracker and the sleep functions though. At least it's a daily baseline once you get used to the way it measures.

When I read about fitbit vs garmin (I'm still thinking about getting one, but I already have a chest strap hrm so it's kinda redundant), fitbit was always at least 10% higher in both steps and calories for the day.

I'm guessing the number you're reading has to do with the calories burned just from being alive (your BMR)

Reasonably annoying that it can't be somewhat realistic with the calories burned, given that it knows my height, weight, how many steps I've taken and my heart rate.

Seems one could write software enough to just give some kind of measurement using that info that is better than wildly incorrect.

It does. But my BMR is like 4K calories a day. I'm definitely not burning 4K calories a day.

IDK how fitbits work, but some websites give you your base BMR while others have you pick your activity level--anywhere from couch potato to marathon runner.

I think using the baseline is way more accurate since any activity will be calculated in instead of guesstimated in using an activity profile.

I have it set for lightly active.
I guess I'll change it to sedentary and see if it changes at all.

I wouldn't care as much if it wasn't so prominently displayed and wrong.

Actually that wasn't in FitBit. That was MFPal.

Changed it anyway for shits and giggles. FitBit saying 1700 calories burned since midnight. :bananadead:

Have you compared the bmr that fitbit and mfp are calculating compared to another one online? MFP calculated 200 less calories than the bodybuilding calc.

Just go with the lowest number.
