C'mon man. You know there is no break in on these things as far as MPG impact goes... mine actually gets worse MPG now than when I took delivery over 12k miles ago!

Not true, at least for my 2014 Silverado and 2015 Taco, took a few tanks before everything seated and was getting advertised mpgs, maybe not for this engine, not too fluent. Do feel bad for you though and others who are getting crappy MPG.

I'm running BFG LT265/75R16, All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires on my truck. For the first 10k miles or so I ran them at 40 PSI and averaged right around 18 MPG. Last oil change I decided to run them closer to the 80 PSI listed on the tire, just for the hell of it, so I set them at 70 PSI. After about 750 miles it looks like my average has jumped into the 19 MPG range, not a bad gain seeing as I commute about 400 miles per week. The ride is a bit rougher, but not terrible, and I think I'll stick with the higher tire pressure for a while.

All that bad talkin' , your truck just don't like ya, brother. Don'agree on your break in philosophy, all three of my Tundras started getting reasonable mileage after 12,000 - 15,000 miles on them; 22 highway on a good day.

Mine had 10 miles on it when I took delivery. Averaged about 19MPG right off the lot. Over time I have noticed a very slight decline in MPGs, certainly no significant change of improvement since delivery, first oil change, etc. Older vehicles were more prone to break-in mileage improvement. Today it is more of a myth.

12.5-13.5 (4x4 DC SB TRD OF w/285/75R16 BFG AT's) I live in a hilly area and that transmission HATES hills, because it has to run at 3K+ RPM. + So Cal Freeways you have drive 75+ or you're going slow. Here its 0 or 80 there is nothing in between.

What part of SoCal do you live in? I lived in LA for 10 years and I'll tell you people aren't driving 75mph unless it is 3AM.... during the day you're lucky if you can drive the speed limit (65mph). So Cal drivers are some of the most indecisive drivers I've ever encountered as well...everybody drives scared. When I finally moved back to AZ I felt like I was going to get ran off the damn road driving the speed limit... drivers in AZ are much more aggressive than So Cal drivers.

Well, I ruined the experiment. 40 of the last miles were going 85+ with the A/C on with a truckload of teenagers to go see The X-games. Too damn hot in Texas right now, so further A/C testing will resume in the fall. Results were .1mpg better than my last tank. 18.2 mpg.

For science, I greased my joints prior to filling up. More results in a week.

Truck has nearly 3,000 miles on it now and I just took my first road trip - had it in in 4WD all the way through the Valle Vidal from Costilla to Cimarron, NM, highway driving all the way back to Albuquerque, then back and forth to work for a few days, 381 miles, got 27 mpg!

Ahhhhhh 4WD on dry pavement and you got 27 mpg. BS to that, wanna try again. You did all of that on 14.1 US gallons of gas. Sorry just got to call you out on that. How are your tires or did you just drive in a straight line all the way.

I think a lot of these high mileage claimers are either flat out lying or they forget to log the full up somewhere along the trip . There is no way they are getting 27 mpg in 4x4 .
    Somebody's math doesn't add up
