My new shell is finally installed! Leer 180 with headliner, removable sliding front window and Thule tracks.

Hey CartoTaco, nice looking shell! Any chance you know (or can measure) the inside height you get with that topper? I'm looking at one for mine to sleep in, and can't seem to find numbers on how tall they are. Thanks!

No problem, I will measure after work and post here.

I will say it is pretty roomy; I tossed my Paco pad in there yesterday evening and jumped in to test it out. I'm 6'1" and I could sit upright on the pad with plenty of headroom. I'm going to probably give it a test camp this weekend somewhere out of town to see how it feels and develop ideas of what other gear I need to get it fully set up for camping.

Before buying my shell I was concerned about bike fit. For reference, here is how bikes fit in a dcsb with a Snugtop Rebel. For reference, this is a 54 and 56. Load and unload is very quick and easy. I'm 6'1" and I don't have to drop the seat. Screwed some fork mounts on a 2x12. I can flip the board around and our mountain bikes fit just as well. image.jpg

I paid $2K with a removable sliding front window. Weight is in the ballpark of about 200lb.

I went with the Leer 100XR. Not a huge fan of the framed window look but they give much better ventilation than the frame-less windows and since my dog will be back there a lot the 100XR was the perfect fit for me. I might do a single sliding wind-door on the passenger side (so I don't see it getting in and out of the truck every day) if I think it will come in handy. For upgrades I only got the carpeted roof, sliding and removable front window, and the electric locking and unlocking handle. Fit and finish is pretty darn good. It came with what looks like a strip of tar tape to go on the front bed rail to seal it. I live in southern California so it may be a bit before I see if it worked to seal it in rainy conditions. I do think these things are a little over priced but they do come with a lifetime structure and paint warranty so that makes me feel a little better about spending that kind of money. It will be nice for work, the dogs, keeping the bikes locked up and out of sight, and those beach and mountain camping trips. Overall I need it and am happy with it.

Camped in it a few days after buying a Leer XR. Should get a lot more use starting in a few weeks.

Got my 100XL installed today. I like.

I'm getting close to where I want to be on this truck (yeah, right.)

Got my xr on yesterday, so far I'm stoked. I've owned one snug top super sport and the lower level Leer on previous trucks. $1880 out the door with Thule tracks, headliner and removable slider.

Hey guys. Been loving this feed. Gosh, I'm such an idiot. I got way too excited about the ARE MX and ordered one before I picked up my truck. I like how they look on the 05-15, but then I saw a couple on here and I don't really like them with the new body style. And please, do not take offense to that if you own one. They are so functional. Especially if you're 6'3" and sleep in the back quite often. So I see the benefit to the taller cap, but I think I might be a fashion over function guy when it comes to my canopy. I really like the flush look. That said, I am not going to install the ARE MX and will most likely go with the Leer 100XR with the same setup @Taco Luvr and @YotaLife406 have. Such a great cap and I have had Leer on my previous two Gen 1 Tacos.

That said, there's a lovely MGM ARE MX for sale in Bend, OR. I'd take a $200 hit and sell it for $2k if anyone in the PNW wants it. Also, J&R Canopies in Bend, OR where I ordered it said that they will install for free just to free up the space.

@0210 @Taco Luvr @sorgon82 How do you feel about the color match? Taco Luvr, I know you said you gave them an 8.5/10 when you first got it. Still feel that way? 0210, yours looks pretty darn good. Did you gents just trust Leer or did you send the gas cap or what? Also, how is the fit? I've read so much about the ARE and the Leer having weird fitment issues. Is SnugTop the quiet winner between the 3 for fit? It does have me thinking...

Regardless, it's a shame I was so gung-ho and blew it ordering a cap that I don't really want, but I figure I'll get rid of it to somebody and be happy getting something that I really love and want to have forever.

In other news, my FN Konig Countersteer Type X in Gunmetal (color not listed on site. Was stoked to find out they exist) will be here on Friday. Wrapping them with KO2 265/70/17. Can't wait. Then I need to decide on a lift. Don't even get me started. It's so confusing.

THANKS GUYS! Such a great community here. Hope I didn't offend anybody with my remarks about the ARE MX. I'd never want to piss anyone off. It's just not for me, but I do understand how it would be perfect for somebody else.

Colour match 8.5/10 gets better in time lol
Fits a bit bagy compared to other trucks with seemless fits.
Dont give them your gas cap it rivited on. Instead request colour swatches from leer

About to put a Snugtop Rebel on order. Snugtop this month is giving free tilt/slide front window.

Was going to go with ARE but like the design of the Rebel a little more.
