I ordered my DCOR MT about a month ago and according to the dealership it will be here on Monday. I'm not entirely sure that I believe them though. They've lied to me a few times to keep me from road tripping and buying one from another dealer.

Keep up with the dealer and make them stay on on their feet. This is your vehicle. If they have lied to you already I would have dropped them. Have you already talked price and put down a deposit?

I definitely think makers underestimate the demand for and utility of the manual. I used to drive a stick WRX, and it was a lot of fun! I've been considering the manual Tacoma, but I love the long bed, and the auto I test drove was actually really nice for cruising around all those back roads, imho! I'm really looking forward to picking mine up once I find a job out west (hopefully soon!).

My wife is really looking at the Outbacks, though, for her next. She has one of the diesel VWs that are supposedly going to be bought back when they get around to it. I think we're definitely going to wait until Subi comes out with the version on the new Global Platform, though - I hear it's supposed to be really great!

That's really crappy! I've been trying to talk with a few dealerships around here in the event I don't find a job to make the move out west and end up buying here in Florida. One of their folks was really rude and told me a lot of untrustworthy things, and I just outright wrote off the dealership as a whole. That being said, I'm sure that'd be more difficult for you given that you're already more invested in them. I hope things work out well for you and they improve their customer relations! Good luck!

Regarding the 2016 Tacoma M/T (4x4): Is it recommended to use the same 75W-85-GL5 oil in both the differential and the transfer case?

Second, dumber question: I know where the diff is. I assume the transfer case is the next gear box looking thing right forward of the differential. Right?

Other than those two, is there another gear oil 'case' I need to be checking?

No this did not happen to me just asking the other guy. My ordeal was easy. I emailed three dealers and narrowed them down put down deposit and got my truck in a month with no problems at all.

Any ideas on whether one fluid can be used in both the differential and the transfer case?

The manual for my 15 states GL-4 for the trans. You can use GL-5 for everything else.

Yes. I already put a deposit down, but that's not that big of a deal. I could get it back. The
The dealer just sent me a picture of the truck. It was apparently just unloaded off the truck and should be ready by the time I get off work, so I guess they weren't lying.

I could go into detail about the previous lies and half-truths but it wouldn't do anybody any good. There's enough negativity in this forum as-is. Either way, I'm excited but still can't help feeling like something is still going to go wrong. Oh well, I guess I'll find out soon enough. It's been an ordeal.

lol sorry I was just being facetious. To be honest, I haven't heard or read about any issues with the 2016 manual trans being low on fluid. Are you having issues with your's?

How do you guys / gals who tow with MT enjoy towing with the MT? Considering a manual for my truck and pull a sled trailer regularly.

You don't need the test drive. I didn't and I love mine. 3100 miles and no issues beside the greased u-joints.

I've got 200 km on my DCSBTrd MT and haven't driven a manual for 18 yrs. It's a bit better now but at first my Taco MT felt clunky and jerky especially from 1st to 2nd gear, anyone experience the same thing?

Yep. My 2003 and my 2015 were like this. Nothing wrong with the truck, you just need some more time to get used to the clutch and how it likes to be operated. The 2003 was awful when I first got it. No matter how slow and gentle I tried to shift, it was jerky and would bang when I let the clutch out. It turned out the truck was fine, I just needed some time to get used to the clutches' engagement point.
