Just wondering if any of you guys with older 2nd gens have your dash start to crack at all? I know the older yotas were notorious for it. Just wondering if I need to get one of those dash mats and line it up with some velcro to protect the dash. This will be my first summer with my 2015 out in the CA desert so i figured it is something I should look into. Thanks guys!

Not that i am aware of. I would suggest to protect your dash with products like 303 Aerospace protectant (UV protectant) and using a sun shade when parking in the sun. Tint is also a good idea to keep your interior cooler.

I stopped using 303 on the dash. It was evaporating some weird haze onto my windshield that was hard as hell to clean off. It happened on my Nissan and the Toyota. I use armor all now and haven't had that problem since.

Slightly off topic... kinda, but I saw a ad late last night on TV for Turtle Wax Dash and Glass. It's a dash and windshield cleaner which I thought was neat because I always get one or the other all over the wrong thing. Gonna give a can of it a try if I ever see it somewhere.

I use armor all wipes, and have limo tint all the way around. Going to pick up a sun shade later this week. Just didn't know if that was enough. It was 107 F in the shade today at lunch and I have to park it outside :frusty:

I stopped using Armor All products because there was this huge issue with them causing more harm than good. There are plenty of debates on whether they cause cracking or not. For me, if the professionals don't use it in their shop, its probably not a great product.

I also use Chemical Guys VRP which puts a nice shine to your dash without the greasy feel. If your truck bakes in the sun that often, i would recommend waxing it more often to keep your paint from drying out and fading. Same goes for your headlights. They tend to yellow fast if parked in the sun.

2005 DCSB - No issues with any of the plastics cracking. I really don't apply anything to the dash.

I was lucky enough to buy
It from a friends dad that bought it after the original owner died. My friends dad drove it once or twice a month for like the 3
Or 4 years he owned it. I think it had around 27ish thousand miles when i bought it about around 7 months ago. I begged and begged for him to sell Me the truck. I had a brand new z71 and sold it within a couple of hours of him finally saying " I'll sell the tacoma". It worked out pretty
    Good. I love my Tacoma.
Sorry for getting off topic there. But you asked!!

303 on everything inside the cab that isn't cloth glass, or plexiglass. Spray it on a microfiber cloth and wipe on just enough to cover. It shouldn't be wet to the touch. Usually lasts a couple weeks. Works great on any exterior black plastic also.

    Too few to list.
I just use a dash cover to prevent any cracking.

Fwiw, I have 2007 and it all ways parked outside. And 75% of the time it's in the sun.
Mine hasn't cracked yet. I do wipe it with Armor-All a couple times a month in the summer.
But honestly, that's only because it gets pretty dust after the weekend motocross races.

I have a 2008, I bought new in Novemember of 2007. Truck stays on the driveway, not in the garage. No cracks.

    I like Adams VRT.

I have a 2014 that has been through Colorado summers. I use a windshield sunshade, and haven't had any problems.

It's a plastic dash, not vinyl. It shouldn't crack but it can discolor or warp. It would take a long time and a lot of heat to crack, or brittle cold. Armor all and similar products don't do much good and usually do more harm. Just wipe down with a mild cleaner or a damp cloth. Some products actually attract more dirt and allow it to build up

I like using 303 product because it has UV blocker. No haze whatsoever on my windshield.
