Haha, there really isn't much to it, at least from a beginner/simplified view. As long as you have a decent camera that'll do long exposure (10-25 seconds is what I usually use), ISO between 3200-6400 and clear skies with little to no light pollution its just a game of trial and error. Then you can get into trying to light up the foreground stuff, or having the moon help with that. I didnt have any moonlight and the campers at that end of the picture wouldn't have liked me painting the bottom area with the flashlight while they were sleeping.

I was given a decent camera as a gift. Problem is when I go into settings to do the exposure/ISO stuff it's so confusing. It's really impossible for me to set it to anything but "auto point and shoot"

I have a 2011 Camry SE and the key fob shell broke so the key doesn't stay in it anymore. Does anyone know if I can just have a steel replica made and keep it on the same keychain with the fob or do I have to pay the hundreds of dollars he dealership wants to make a new key? All parts of the fob are still in tact. Input from any of you Toyota techs would be appreciated.

I got a cheap one and found the coding sequence to match it to the truck and did it. Its a little bit of a pain to set ut but it worked. One of the guys at toyota said i could not do it that way and would have to have them do it but it worked with out them.

True. It takes some time of messing with it to start to get a hang of it. But there are a lot of tutorials online to give you an idea, then you can go out and practice with it.

    This'll be simplified...
Aperture (f stop number) is how far the lens opens..
ISO is just how sensitive to light it is. Low ISO (100-200) is for when you're out in sunlight, and you can bump it up as it gets dark. Higher iso will make it more sensitive to light, so you can turn it up to 24,000 in a dark room and be able to see things with the little bit of light available. I usually use the lowest stuff, the star/galaxy pictures are 3200 or 6400.

Shutter speed is how quick it takes the picture. Obviously you want a fast shutter speed if something is moving quick and you want it to be crisp. slower shutter speed and it'll get blurry. But it being open for different times also changes how much light is let in. So if you only change it from 1/2000th of a second to 1/800th while leaving the other adjustments the same, the 1/2000th picture will be darker since it was open for a shorter amount of time.

So what I did was just go out and take pictures of stuff and play around with the settings and see how it changed the pictures. I am far from good at it, but as with everything it just takes a lot of practice. And those are just a few of the crap ton of settings that you can play with and adjust.

I agree with all this except your aperture description. Higher f stop is a smaller opening as you said, but that creates a deeper depth of field with more in focus than a lower f stop (wider opening). You want a small f stop to have the background blurry while the main item is in focus.

There are posts here about doing it for under $100 for Tacoma. Can't be too much different and huge cost savings.
