IMO. just wait for the truck to show up and do an extended test drive. If you like the truck, then buy it. If you don't, then don't buy it.

I didn't sign anything other than the debit card payment slip for the deposit. I think I'll just go to the dealership tonight to get things squared away. I don't like to leave things hanging.

If you are dead set on cancelling then you should get it back. But I should say, even with the issues the M/T off road is a great truck. Especially taking it on some trails. Not everybody has issues, and with how hard it can be to get first in line for a M/T off road with the options you want, I would agree to at least test drive it. You've come this far, you can walk away after the test drive.

And with the M/T you avoid the auto trans issues that plague this board AND you can avoid this buzzing issue 90% of the time with a slight change in driving habit.

This is what my salesman suggested. I went the other way because of the problems that have been reported here that only manifested themselves after a few hundred or thousand miles.

I said let's cancel it now, and if the vehicle comes in, he can call me and I can decide then if I still want to do a test drive. I didn't want to be rude and respected all he's gone thru to order me the right truck for the right price, so I told him I'm not getting my deposit back.

Cancelling the purchase of a pre-ordered truck you've never even driven because of things you've read about on this (or any) forum seems incredibly silly to me. As was mentioned above, don't cancel, just wait for the truck to show up and drive it before you buy it. If it has issues, then decide not to buy it. At least then you can point to a real, as opposed to imagined, problem and tell your salesman you're not buying the truck because of it. There are a shizzload of people out there who have bought '16s and absolutely love them, myself included.

If it's any consolation - myself and tons of people here did read of the problems and bought the truck anyways and have not had any issues. And believe me - I looked hard. I try not to live my life with a bunch of 'what ifs' Live is short, enjoy yourself!

    I come bearing good news!
I took mine in today for its 6 month service. In addition to that I also mentioned what others have mentioned here. I asked them to check the tranny fluid. It was low. I asked them to check the U bolts. They were loose. I also told them about the buzz/vibration in the steering wheel and gas pedal. It came back "test drove several times. No vibration found."
BUT, when I mentioned these forums here and all the other owners that have the same problem, he said "let me go ask my service manager. He's usually up on these things." The Service Mgr said Toyota is well aware of the issue and that a TSB is coming out in a couple weeks.

    Keep your fingers crossed!

I went to the dealership so I could talk to my salesman in-person. I restated why I decided to cancel the order, and even showed him this forum thread. As always, he was very accommodating and said he'll do his best to get me my money back, that it should not be a problem. It was kind of funny because I was actually the one telling him that I wasn't worried about it. He said our relationship is important to him more than the sale (this is the 3rd vehicle I'm buying from him).

After a few minutes of talking it over, I reconsidered and we kept my order intact with the understanding that I can decide what to do next after my test drive on the 20th. I'm glad I went forward and discussed the matter with him. I believe in open communication, whatever the consequences may be.

Thanks for all your guys' input. I learned some things today, and I'm glad to be a member of this site.

I think we've all learned that rule #1 regarding info you get from your service department is believe only when you see it. Very doubtful a TSB is coming soon. Hope I am wrong.

Hope that's true, but I'll believe it when I see it. That seems to be a standard answer on a lot of issues so you leave them alone.

I put 2500 miles on my sport. Try as hard as I could to find that buzz but I couldn't. One the side note I do got the mirror "fart" when travel around 75 mph and the wind blows over at a certain angle. Not all the time just on really windy days. I know you guys know what I'm talking about.

It may be a TSB for the driveline related vibration, so don't hold your breath.

It's not my opinion. Google it.
