You can go to the Toyota website and enter your VIN. On the website look for "owners" and under that you will see something in regards to "safety recalls". Punch in your VIN and it will tell you what recalls apply.

Removed my air bags so the dealer can do the leaf spring recall tomorrow.
Didn't want some dealer putz messing up my bags.
Anyone feel a need to run air bags after recall is done?

Absolutely. I've only pulled my bass boat and I can certainly tell the difference. I just need to figure out how with a built flip

Just had my springs replaced yesterday. I have air bags and had an AAL. They reinstalled the air bags (had to fight for no charge to do it) and they did not re-install the AAL. I had to take it back also for an alignment. For whatever reasons, it seemed to drive near straight afterwards but the steering wheel was spun to the left significantly. Also, with the bags completely deflated and an empty bed, the new springs sit on the helper spring. I'm running OME's 887's up front so right now I'm using my air bags as my rear lift. I'm really surprised how weak the new springs are, wouldn't think they would sit on the helper springs with an empty bed. I'm also curious as to why the alignment was affected.

So it sounds like the recommendation is not to get your rear leafs replaced if they are weaker the OEM Leafs that they are removing.....I this a correct thought?

If you can get Toyota to pay for your after market leafs, I would definitely go that route. Before I got the replacements, I went back and forth on wether or not to have dakars installed. I somewhat regret not doing it.

This pretty much answers my question...
I am sure they wont pay...once they do it for 1 then they need to do it for all...

I dropped My truck off this morning to get my squeaky leaf swapped out. They just called me and said I dont have stock suspension and they cant swap the leafs. I have a 5 pack on there now( I bought it like that) and they said it was slightly lifted. How many stock leafs come on a 2014 TRD Off-Road? Im not sure how they didnt catch this the first 2 times I had it in there. At least they are giving me a free oil change....:frusty:

I'm pretty sure that it was stated in the initial letter, or some other Toyota correspondence. Probably earlier in this thread.

Ill have to take a few pics of it when i get it back to figure out whats going on. I find it hard to believe that new leafs will squeak like these do. But you never know. It looks like ill be doing the bike tube and lube mod this weekend.

What are people's experience in going from the 2+1 to the new 3+1 setup? Losing any ride height or load capacity?

Mine is a little higher, my 2+1 spring were bowed backwards ! It seems a little firmer, but the biggest difference is it seems to have gotten rid of the axle wrap problem.

Well having less axle wrap would be a great thing. I didn't want to do the recall and end up with a saggy butt and have even less load capacity, lol.

My dad just got his letter in the mail for his 2006 this week :tumbleweed:

Told him to have it looked at but he's never complained of the springs making noise etc.

I still have not received my letter in my 2011 :tumbleweed:

So I got my truck back, sure as shit there are 5 leafs under there. I guess that will explain why I had my mini skid on the trailor hooked up and it didnt sag at all.

5 leafs? I'm confused, I thought they were doing 3+1s.

His truck was denied the recall b/c it has aftermarket leafs installed. He didn't know they weren't original leafs.
