First time I got in my buddies liberty, I was in the backseat and was looking for like 5 minutes where they were. Pretty much right under the rear cup holders. I have more respect for Toyota designers now because Jeeps are horrible

Makes sense for the sole purpose of being able to make removing the doors easier. Less wiring.

That's true. But still. Id rather have manual windows then.

And the removable top is cool. But after being in one. Id just want it off all the time. The top is thin and makes noise and allows so much road noise in. Be terrible on the highway. Or rough roads. And well...is

I just drove a JK with the removable hard top from Denver to Dallas last week and I was surprised with how quiet it was. I was expecting it to be much noiser

My nickel opinion, taco vs jeep. haha jeeps are for creeps. wife likes them, told her she can have her jeep and divorce papers before she pulls me out of my taco. then she rides in taco and we pass jeeps, then she remembers the goodness

My bimmer had switches in the middle. Was weird at first but I liked it. All the switches were around the shifter.

The soft top definitely has its limitations. In all the years I've had my CJ-5, I've had the top on maybe 5% of the time, for exactly the reasons you stated. But with the top off completely, or with the bikini top, it's badass. Like a cross between riding a cruiser and riding in your truck.

    That's clever.

Hey @Blackdawg! Setting aside the 'Heep' argument for a moment... I'm not sure if you remember, but I asked you for your opinion about regearing for running 315s. You recommended going straight to 5.29.

What are your thoughts with regards to gearing if you're running a 305 (~33" OD)?

JKs are 10000000x nicer than TJs.
My old roommate had an early JK that wasn't really that much louder than my 03.

For 33s, 4.88s. If you want to be over geared a bit for offroad, with manual tranny. Should be perfect with an auto too. 4.56 for manuals will be closer to stock performance. 5.29s with auto if you are going for over geared.

Starter stuck engaged this morning, so I ordered a contact and plunger kit to rebuild it. Should be here Thursday.

:notsure: We were cruising 75 in his wrangler (which is stock) and it was totally fine. No complaints of noise. Ride though, that wasn't too good. And the steering was super touchy (because of the short wheelbase I guess)
Yup, I like it there because they're easy to hit with your shifting hand. Switches by the radio is just inconvenient.
I don't see why people always say this. I changed my starter in my work parking lot of all places and it wasn't bad at all. The hardest part was removing my front skid plate. Only complaint with the starter swap itself was that my arms got tired holding it up there trying to get all the bolts lined up.

It's not that bad on the 3RZ at least. Couple of bolts and playing tetris.

I remember when mine did that I freaked out and started pulling fuses. After the fact I realized the only thing that would've actually stopped it was if I had pulled the battery cable. Thankfully after like 2 minutes of cranking it broke loose

Im running 315s with 4.88s. Drives great. Not sluggish and speedometer is spot on. Runs about 2400 doing 75 and not searching for gears. Its a 3.4 auto.

EDIT: For 33s, I had stock gearing and it was a little sluggish. Definitley wouldnt go to 4.88s though. Maybe 4.56s at the most. Personal opinion though.

I have 35s with 4.88 and it's perfect. Speedo is pretty off though

I have 295/75r16s and 4.88s and would be kicking myself if I went 4.56s. Probably could have gotten away with 5.29s too. No way would I run 35s and not go to 5.29s.

Keep in mind I live at 7,000' ASL, constantly driving in the mountains, and hardly ever drive freeway. Just a bit over 3K RPM at 75mph.
