totally understand..bought mine out of state and had it shipped across the Pacific Ocean! I just prayed the ship didn't sink on the way here..U can always go locally and push to get it checked if they don't do it for you at dealership:)

I haven't heard/seen any issues with low MT fluid levels. And its not the same procedure. It is much simpler to check a MT. It has a drain plug and a fill plug. You add fluid until it starts running out the fill plug hole. At that point, put the plug back in ... your done. It's basically the same procedure as the differentials.

In my dumber days I used to do that. Last 10 years, I make sure to pay no more sales tax, and run everything through a LLC in a far northern state :)

You would think that they would check it, before these dealer get a flood of blown transmission in from warranty replacement!!! The other day I was in to have schedule oil change on my 2016 Taco and the service rep said they were going to check everything on the vehicle for the schedule mileage service. Upon picking up my vehicle from its "free" schedule service that I paid for in my contract purchase, which there is nothing free in this world. So the service rep was going over the paperwork that stated the service that was done on my Taco. One of the items I was concern that he stated that my tires were inflated above manufacturer spec's., so they adjusted them back to spec's so he said. When I got into my vehicle I hit the tire monitor system and is displayed the same pressure that I came in there with. What give???? I believe that these dealers or some dealers are not doing what is required in the service plan, because it would take the service person to many hours to do the requirements state in the plan. I've even been check my oil to see if they are even change that, which I surprise that they are.

Dealers get paid to replace blown transmission under warranty. :)

Just got a call back from Claremont Toyota after they tested mine at the right temperature and it was 1.5 quarts low. If anyone needs to take it there speak with Gordon, now he's seen it for himself so it might help.

You should provide them links to the dozens of Tacoma World threads started on the subject. Curious how they would react. I talked to a local Toyota tech and he basically said techs are told to keep tight-lipped until an official announcement or recall has been made.

I just got mine back from Crown Toyota in Ontario and my transmission was 1qt low. I didn't really feel the truck shifted poorly but I took it in anyway. It's a good thing I did. Now the truck shifts differently than it had. I also had the 5000 mile service done since I was in at 6300 miles.

After reading another thread about tacomas, check your u joints! Mine were bone dry and took about 10 pumps of grease to fill each one up! This is ridiculous for Toyota to be putting this garbage out and our dealers were suppose to check all of this also before the truck left the lot!

I had my truck lifted at a local truck shop (guy was a master tech at Toytota), and I asked them about this whole deal with the low fluid levels. He said he's heard a lot about it too. Anyhow, my '16 was also 1 qt low. They had to fill it up and, honestly I think it shifts much smoother now.

I'm sure theres an answer already somewhere in 1 millions pages of forum but has there been any low fluid reports from any 4 banger trucks.
