Jeez really? People care about a BB gun in the backyard? wtfman.

Yeah he is a bit young. I've noticed with new shooters it's the upper body strength that usually fails their enjoyment level! A bench and a BB gun or small pellet gun is probably best for him right now, just to get the appeal of hitting a target and all. My cousin has noodle arms so she almost has to shoot from a bench, she's a great shot though!

All this shooting talk got me wanting trigger time... :infantry:

Maybe I should clean them for once before that, though?

Yeah, Danny's right on the money with that statement. We used to shoot the bb gun out near the railroad tracks all the time!!! Front yard, back yard, just about anywhere!!! Even slung over the shoulder and biked down to a railroad bridge we used to hang out at as well, LOL!!! I canNOT even imagine what would happen to me now if I was to do that, LMAO!!! Definitely no more TW meets for me or logging on for a while, LOL!!! By then, I would be the one "taking rounds" :puke:, LOL!!!

Those things are fantastic. Have you compared the markings for the year it was put in service? A lot of Mosin Nagants if they ever saw war were actually rebuilt once/several times in their life and the silly-billies actually used the same serial number when rebuilding. A lot of "all matching" parts can still be from very different time periods!

    Using this site: http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinMarks.htm

I determined mine was some parade piece that never saw combat and came out of the Izhevsk factory(ies) pre-WW2. I don't think it's all matching but I know the action is from there. Stocks were often replaced due to rot/damage/etc. You just definitely don't want a late war barrel!

I looked up the markings, but forgot where it was "made/assembled". I guess I should make a "history" paper "display" for it??? I did NOT know that they would use the same serial numbers when rebuilding though???!!! My reading/research would always come up saying something like, "when rebuilding, the serial numbers would be different..." or something along those lines, but never mentioned that they would "re-stamp" or somehow put the same serial number on the "new/added" replaced part???!!! I hope NOT though!!! The only thing that doesn't "match", keeping in mind though of what was just added by you, the only thing that isn't a match was/is the bayonet. Other than that, I was very happy with the matching numbers. BUT, I am hoping what you said is NOT the case for mine??? Thank you for the input Denny.

I would LOVE to get an Arisaka, SVT40, and a K-98. Be the "eastern block" arms person, LOL!!! "Evil axis powers", LMAO!!! I LOVE WWII stuff.

If I understand it correctly you should always assume a Mosin Nagant was rebuilt in some capacity. So many of them saw combat at some point it was just far more likely than not. Most important part is that the bore is sharp and has clean rifling along with a straight sight post. The trigger will always be a long creepy mess but they're still fun rifles and a great piece of history.

 on the SVT40, I wish it wasn't illegal/unbelievably rare/hard to import. A Kar-98 would be a great fapping friend, as well.

Yeah, that trigger "pull" is like traveling from one end of the coast to the same coast (i.e. going around the world), LMAO!!! Every time I pulled the trigger, it was like, pulling... pulling... pulling... STILL PULLING, then BAMMMMMM!!! I believe you can do and/or they have "spring mods" to take care of that issue. I just like to keep it as "original" as possible though. I want to more "collect" them than shoot them, BUT they ALL have to be working firearms and not just a display item!!!

*COUGH*... *HUGE ROUGH COUGH*... what's illegal??? Just joking!!! I kinda figured that because I've been wondering why the hell I can't seem to find any??? What I don't F'N get though is that a gun, like the SVT40 for example, is just as "bad" as the MN, 308, 300WinMag, etc etc etc...??? I guess the wood fibers are more combustible or something and/or the steel makes it look more scary and "tactical"??? :notsure::facepalm: All I can say, Denny and Danny, LAME F'N people (i.e. against guns) and the people "on the hill"!!! :frusty:

I had the chance to buy a RAT rifle (i.e. German rifle), but didn't for some reason???!!! I HATE MYSELF to this day for not doing so!!! :frusty: An Arisaka, I can find from time-to-time, but am VERY picky about a working one WITH the Imperial Chrysanthemum NOT scratched OFF of the receiver. THOSE are VERY hard to find!!! Well, within a reasonable price range I can afford, LOL!!!

They really are the worst, and yeah I've seen those trigger mods out there where you smooth the sear face and it helps but it's just a design flaw. The real killer is you can't feel when you're against the sear it just feels like spring until it pops off. At least mine does? I kind of like it, no anticipation 'cause you can't tell when it'll go off!

We were talking about the 2a environment in California on Sunday. It's depressing, really.

I'd love an Arisaka but as I understand it there's essentially zero ammo out there for them, right? I think a modern manufacturer just started pressing new production 7mm or 8mm for the K-98 but I can't remember which it was... After shooting a K-98 you understand why Germany did so well so early. Those things are made like finely tuned fucking machines compared to even the best Mosin Nagants (except those of Finnish decent, holy hell.) So balanced, smooth action that rivals any modern Remington 700 you'd find even with its age and service history.

@digitaLbraVo Denny, the bolt that you see on the MN in the picture is a "spare" that I bought from a place that sells lots of these types and/or similar WWII rifles. I even bought "head-space" go-NO-go "plates", if you will. Set the firing pin and everything. Been a while in doing all of that and it makes me want to re-learn that stuff again. But, did it once/many times before, so the next time I learn will be cake walk!!! So, I'm NOT too worried about re-learning.

Btw, the thing shot like a charm, other than that LONNNNNNNNNNNNNG trigger pull, LOL!!! Finally, after about 15rds, that barrel was F'N HOT and THAT is an understatement my good friend!!!:rofl::rofl::infantry:

I LOVED that thing, but the rounds can definitely get pretty expensive. I made sure to take careful shots because I wanted each one to be "good" shots. I was counting off "change" in my head for each shot... okay, here is about $0.40, now $0.80 for the second, now $1.20 for the third, LOL!!! I saw my next paycheck in my mind in a firepit, LMAO!!! The rounds aren't quite that much, but definitely close to it.

Oh man my lady burnt the shit out of her arm on my WASR-10/63 this weekend. I've seared a finger or two getting too close to the barrel on my Mosin a time or two  surplus 7.62x54R isn't too bad it's when you do like I do and buy the Tula steel case ammo just cause it ain't corrosive.

I have reloading equip and even bought brass shells that are BOXER Prime. I don't have large rifle primers and/or the .311 bullets yet. I know it is approx a .311 bore because I did a bore TEST on it with lead fishing weights and it came out to about a size .311. I am going to buy, of course not at the moment, the .311 bullets from Sierra eventually. I could use 308 through it though if I wanted to, just a bit of "bouncing" down the barrel, LOL, and I really don't want that though. Then again, don't want possible excess pressure as well???!!!:goingcrazy:

If you trust this the actual measurement is 7.92mm .312in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7.62×54mmR

The most expensive part (except for hollow points) is usually the casing, depends if they're straight lead or a few other things as well I suppose...

LMAO!!! My former co-worker did the same thing!!! You two must be related in some form or fashion, LMAO!!! His dad had the strangest rounds I had EVER seen, LOL!!! I identified a 223 rem (lol stamped), 308 shell or very close to a 308 and like 2x others. The rest of his dads cigar box full of shells, was a DAMN MYSTERY!!! LOL!!! Very interesting collection that he had for sure!!! Some looked like they had to have been "custom rounds". IF I remember correctly, they're called "wilds" or something like that. Already been close to 3yrs now since I've last reloaded anything. I only do 223/556 (YES, I know the differences and it is a REAL thing to understand) and 308. I can tell you that a PTR91 is NOT "gentle" on the brass AND you don't have to worry about your flank being "covered" as the ejecting brass will take out the enemy on your flank, LOL!!! :infantry::infantry::infantry:

I would happily shoot at the "Prius" (correct), just because. As far as the truck, just to simply put the truck out of its misery and shoot the owner... just because!!! LOL!!!

I was researching and the bores can go from a shocking right around the size of .308 to as high as .314, LOL!!! Accuracy at its finest!!!:rofl::rofl::thumbsup:
