It is, and the cost for JBL is only about $700. Good luck finding an aftermarket system plus labor costs (for less than $700) that will beat it. Plus then you have to risk some buffoon ripping the interior of your truck apart and not putting it back together soundly.

He's got a 3rd gen which is different from the 2nd. The 2nd gen is just your typical double din deck (which I was able to easily pull out and replace, as well as adding a sub)

The 3rd gen 'deck' is highly integrated into the vehicle - much like most modern cars.
That was a pic I found. I could be completely wrong and our rear door speakers are just the mids -- which would make sense, since there is a separate subwoofer.

You get a 475 watt amp, a subwoofer, different DSP.

That's where my 10/22 Takedown is going to go, now that I don't have to worry about the space.

Me either. Tires and rims should be here hopefully by the end of the week. I'm also putting my mid height bed rack on it.

I can fit an AR-15 under the rear seats. Plenty of room in this thing IMO even with JBL I have no storage issues. I throw a bug out/ off road bag in the back when I'm on hunt or off road trips. Keep some extra TP and baby wipes in there too. :D I don't "need" to carry around a lot of extra crap.

I've been debating about getting that rack from you. I got the bars that work with the bed cleats and they work fantastic, but I just want more clearance under them for my cooler and what not. I can say the bars support quite a bit of weight. I've put a spare tire in there and a loaded cooler, no issues. Figured a bed cleat would of broke but it held up good.

I think it's worth it. The head unit seems too integrated into the truck to just change it all out like we did "back in the day". Maybe it's not that complicated, but something about handing my new $38000 truck over to some guy to pretty much rip the damn dash out seems risky.

The JBL system sounds great at reasonable levels. Besides, most people nowadays are either streaming, listening to a mp3 file via the USB port or Bluetooth, all of which are not recorded at high bit rates to start with. So you upgrade your hardware and the software is still shit...what's the point???

It's simple...shit in = shit out. If the source material is low quality and you spent $1000+ on an "upgrade" well now what you have is shitty sound on a high dollar system...WASTE! But, hey it ain't my money!!!

Its very easy to remove the head unit on the 3rd gen. Most of the guys that are upgrading their stock speakers, tweeters aren't ditching the head unit anyways.

i still listen to cd's. i can't stand mp3's and downloaded music. it sounds horrible to me. very low quality compared to a cd.

why is the prem tech package $3k? when you build online it's only $1500.
