So on Friday I did a last minute trip to do the Rimrocker Trail from Montrose to Moab. Left Morrison in the morning and were in Montrose around noon. As soon as we got to the official start of the trail there was a large electronic board saying that a road was closed due to a mudslide... what a great start! Well it turned out to be some other road. The trail is very mellow, we didnt air down for at least the first half of it being that it is a two lane fairly smooth dirt road. There is a TON of camping and offshoot trails all along it though.

We made it a little over 100 miles that first day, encountered one group of dual sport bikes and maybe 3 vehicles. Set up camp at a great spot right off the trail at 8pm or so, left at 8am and nobody drove by.

Sunday had a few more technical areas, some barely traveled trails and some portions of guaranteed pin striping. We arrived in Moab at noon. So the trail is fairly quick being that I was also mapping the trail for Trailsoffroad.com which meant stopping to add waypoints and get pictures along the way. We did it in 11 ish hours of driving the 150 miles, I am sure a good 2-3 hours was used up by stopping, photographing, etc. I passed by Area BFE which is right off the trail but it looked like everyone was out on the trails or somewhere other than the closest parking area to the road.

Did Onion Creek which was decently bumpy and not too much water. Then headed up to Top of the World. Passed a group of Jeeps that not surprisingly weren't aware of the fact that uphill has the right of way. Then passed the 6'ish TacomaWorld'ers that were heading down. There was one 2016 that was heading up as I was, the trail was more technical and undercarriage dragging than I expected, but the truck survived other than the power steering must've been getting hot since it started whining.

I had a bit of trouble here since I kept losing traction on a front and rear tire at the same time and it was nicely rutted out. Then I remembered the easy button for the locker and drove up.

Made it up to the top, the 2016 headed back down and I had the place to myself. Camped just below the TotW point, took a nice refreshing shower and hung out for a few hours when I was joined by two climbers that hiked up. I got some good night sky pictures, headed down in the morning with a bit more scrapeage.

Yeah, I planned on driving a lot closer to the edge... decided that it was not worth dying over. Could not see shit while driving up to it either!

Thanks, had to follow it up from my last ledge picture from Canyonlands. Canyonlands was much scarier though.. didn't check out the whole slope at the edge part, slid up there and the whole rock is angled way too far down, like a nice slide off the edge. It did not make it any easier sitting there!

I'm a little desensitized to the trucks that are at least 4 feet back from the edge. At least you have a grip on the bumper....
    But sitting on the edge...

how about dylan almost hanging his drivers side tire off the ledge then? he wanted to walk in front of the truck but would have had to hang from the bumper to do so

It's definitely at the top of the list. A CB is going in this week just because it's quick cheap and easy and probably next is sliders. I'm studying the options every night.

I was thinking about that picture and I thought the way to do it would be to have another truck or two strapped or winched to the first as it crept up to the edge.

It's one of those things though that you can't really one- up the record holder. Sort of like a low pull contest in skydiving. World record holder is dead and the best you can do is tie.

Dylan was spotting me to the edge and told me he would get me "really close." I chickened out and stopped about 3 feet short of the ledge....
