@usafwx - you can debate the definitions of adjectives all day long, but what I've posted are facts, and those you cannot debate.

Not all were facts as I pointed out.

On the contrary - you interjected your opinions and muddied the water with issues of chosen adjectives. You did not actually disprove anything I've written.

Of course, now you're going to come back and say "prove what you've written," so I'll save you the time: I have better thing to do. Anyone interested in safety, fuel economy, resale, and "issues" per volume of trucks sold can easily look that up on Google and come to their own conclusions. My 2c have been said.

You need to calm down. Your posts seem to have drawn our attention and that's not really a good thing.

That's a nice truck you got there but if you could get out breaking even then go for it, you can't take it with you.

If you want a 3rd gen, its a no brainer. They are offering you the price you paid for the truck. If you trade in, driving your truck for one year cost you $0 (especially if that $25,800 was OTD).

I wanna puke at every white vehicle I see. I love silver trucks, corvettes, mercedes, etc.

Life would be boring if we were all the same. :D

Hey, if you feel the need to ban me, I won't take it personally. I completely understand that some people get a major case of butthurt when someone dares to disagree with them on the internet, and that many forums' preferences lean towards pleasing the whiners. That's certainly nothing new. Some people can't have adult conversations, so when that happens I dumb things down to terms they can understand.

One can look up actual facts (released by manufacturers, testing agencies, reviewers, etc.) and form their opinion based on that, or one can endlessly argue about subjective preferences and personal tastes as if they're the holy grail of all information.

At the end of the day, I post what I (usually) consider to be helpful, and call bullshit when I see it - always have, always will.

I'm not looking to ban you. Just asking you to stop being condecending. You don't have to argue everything you see on the internet let alone be a dick about it in responses.

Keep it up and we'll gladly oblige you with a ban.

    None....yet
All. Thanks for all the info and opinions. I know it should be an easy choice, but they both are really really nice trucks. I wish I could merge the two trucks and pick and choose the things I would take from each. Who knows.... Maybe I will just keep the 2015 Taco and save up to buy a Generation 3 truck also. (My wife will love that idea...LOL)

This is the best option overall. I plan to do the same on a 2017-2018 3rd gen. The 3rd gen has great potential...it just needs a few of the bugs worked out first.

Well, Here`s 6 pages of comments for your consideration

Don`t believe everything you read on the internet and only half of the BS you see.

Buy what fits your needs and wants, good luck.

Didn't read through all posts but I would keep the '15, I see it as being a more sought after truck in the future than the '16. If the paint is looking like it will turn on you maybe just bring it and get a shot of clear on it, should be much cheaper than the price difference in the two trucks. I don't hate the new trucks but I like the last body way better, the new front is way too long IMO but that's just me. I think, for now at least, our trucks will be the last of the good looking ones.

I was in the same situation, I have a 15 that's paid for would have been 5k for a 3rd gen. I to liked both aspects of both truck.. Coming from a family of machines let them work the bugs out take the 4k and do some custom mods. If done tastefully it will increase your value for a future trade or cure the new truck itch.. Maybe start with OEM sport hood and a paint job?.20160427_192005.jpg

The longer you keep your 15 the worse the trade in will be in the long run. The 15 isn't some magical unicorn of a Tacoma... Its not Google or Apple stock, its a used truck that depreciates more every year you own it.

If your happy with the 15 keep it, its still practically a brand new truck. If your dead set on upgrading to a 16-17 your trade is worth more now than it will be in the future. Figure it out...

Also the paint on my 05 Super White went to shit after 5-6 years of owner ship, I'll never buy another white Toyota anything in the future.

Though I would tend to agree, if you look at what the last of the 1st gens are getting in price right now I would disagree, Tacoma's already hold there value (75% first 3 years, 60% in 5 years) so its not a huge depreciation, Im willing to bet much like guys that wanted a clean well taken care of last of the 1st gens and willing to pay, there will be the same for the 2nd gens 5-10 years from now. Co worker just paid $15.5k for a 2004 AC manual with 70k miles. That's insane but not uncommon especially when you look at the initial MSRP for that truck. OP shouldn't worry about "massive depreciation" everyone keeps trying to say.
