You should start a detailing business man, thats amazing. I'll be your first customer and you can grandfather my price in at $0.99 plus materials :)
Mine usually just goes through one of those automated car wash things like at the gas stations, and thats about it.

I use two bucket method with Mothers Carnuba Wash and Wax soap, then Turtle Super Hard Shell wax.

    Mequair's Quik Interior Detailer.

I don't really have any brand loyalty with detailing products yet, these are just the products I bought at "Advanced" Auto a while ago.

The Turtle wax seems to do a good job but it just about takes my arm off when I'm wiping the wax off. I'm almost out so I might try another brand next.

I used to wash my truck every two weeks, wax every three months, and clay every six months, but lately I've been slacking.

We need to meet up sometime for a beer or something. I will work towards bringing you to the dark side. Haha. I'm a detail nerd.

Started my tool and toolbox collection. I've been wanting to get my own tools and toolboxes for a while now but I was patient and looked around for a good deal. Found a guy on CL selling the tall toolbox below for $160 and I offered $125 and he agreed. Came with drawer liners and keys. No real damage, just some cosmetic scratches and such, which I don't care about with a toolbox.

Picked up the shorter toolbox for free from the firehouse. We moved into our new firehouse about a month ago and we've been clearing out our old stuff and stuff we had while in our intermediate quarters (apparatus tent and trailers). Our assistant chief and I have been working almost everyday at the new building both before and after occupancy hanging, mounting, fixing, etc a whole bunch of crap, so he has allowed me to take a couple things for free. Also came with drawer liners and keys, but I had to buy some casters and hardware, which only ended up being about $40.

I then bought all the tools I wanted for now. My parents said they would pay for the tools as my college graduation present so I am very grateful to them for that. :) I held off on stuff like a bench grinder and vice since I don't have a workbench yet, but I'll get those in the somewhat near future. I am probably going to be moving out of my parents soon (should be hired within the next month or two hopefully) and into the same assistant chief as above's house. He charges a very reasonable amount and he has space for my bike in the garage :) He also lives less than three minutes from the firehouse and about 35-45 minutes from where I hope to work, so it will be a good deal.

I picked up a Dewalt impact and drill, as this was the main tools me and my AC used in our projects, and believe me, we put them through the ringer and they always came out swinging. Socket set, wrench set, all kinds of hand tools (screwdriver set, pliers, channel locks, snips, etc), hacksaw, crowbar, hardware, torpedo level, good tape, etc. I already had basic hand tools but was always borrowing either my dad's or the firehouses tools for more serious projects. I'm glad to have started my collection :spy:

Old firehouse soon after demolition had started (portion closest to road was original 1944 firehouse, right portion was added in 1990's)

Hitting five years with the truck this month!

At about 41K miles, so nice average of about 8K miles a year. I've had even less this past year with my last semester being all online classes and having the bike.

Big differences from the first day...

Damn! I wished I averaged 8K/yr. I'm at around 17.5k/yr, even with a DD which averages around 20K/yr.

I was pretty good with scheduling my last three years at school so I was able to get a bunch of online classes which saved about a 40 mile roundtrip not driving to campus.

I didn't work during school, so I really only ran errands/food and drove to the firehouse ( although I do that a lot :) ). I will probably increase a little bit when I hopefully get hired soon, but I will still have the bike to ride when the weather cooperates.

Gonna look into moving my solenoid for the winch. Don't use it that much but id prefer to not have to pop the hood everytime I want to plug the controller in.

I'll update if I find a place, open to any suggestions.

Leave it under the hood and wire in-cab controls. Out of the salt and elements is the best place for them.

Very well done, the details on this were so helpful! Working on new stuff for my truck and your additions were great advice!

Thanks, I know I always wanted specific links and info when I first started my build so I try and make mine as easy to follow as possible.

Putting new brake pads on, had a ringing/squealing noise while driving and braking. I put the EBC kit on in April of 2014, so I only have maybe 20K on the old pads. A little disappointing but I've heard the performance pads like EBC are stronger braking power but don't last as long, so oh well.

I had Stage 5 with the yellow pads I believe. We put on just the platinum pads from Adv. Auto last night. Noise went away, so my "Random Truck Noises" collection went from four to three

*Put new brake pads on at 41K for my reference.
