The springs I got have serial numbers for 2013 / 2014 springs, but have six clips. I didn't expect much lift, but I gained height from the distance to the bump stop and the ride is a lot better. I guess this is a real hit or miss recall.

    well. crap.

not only did they NOT move the AAL over, they appear to me missing in action. serious rear dragging. i'm not even sure the AAL will work with the new leaf pack. there seems to be an extra set of banding..oh, it is four leaf pack.

i got the shop guy and he was horrified. not so sure what my next step is. i'm tempted to find OEM parts for the front and drop it back down to stock.

    i'm over it.

LESSON LEARNED..if you have any lift, dont do the recall. the shop guy said he messed up. they were not even supposed to touch my truck with the AAL.

I'll give these a while first. They were free. Anything is better than the Tonka Toy 3 pack they had in there. If these start to lose it, I'll go to Benz Spring co. in Portland and have a set made. They are the Spring Guru's. It seems like the folks with AAL's and lifts are having the most problems with these packs. Mine seem ok so far. I'm taking a 2500 mile trip pretty soon. I'll see if they collapse after that.

Called the dealership in ND and was told to just stop by for the inspection. Tried to get him to say specifically what they were inspecting but he wouldn't give a straight answer. Saw elsewhere on here that it's based on leaf to clip ratio; can't understand why it's so hard to communicate that to the owner.

Has anyone been hassled and denied yet?

I'm gonna take a deeper look this weekend. I may end up cutting of the tips of 2 bands to be able to slid the aal in

Proof is in the picture...saggy as $hit after less than a week!

    IMG_20160603_171110689.jpg

Took measurements before I installed my AAL this morning. Rear was at 35.5" almost two inches lower than my TSB pack. Front was at 36.75" with 5100's at 1.75".

After install of the AAL the rear sits at 37.5-38".

Mine has 3 clips, 2 leafs then the bottom short thick 'leaf' (and Dakar AAL) and they are replacing mine. Not sure if the number of clips matter, just thought I'd share.

    Airbag suspension.
My truck as 160k in miles and I added firestone air bags at about 70k because the leaf springs were, sagged all the way down to the rubber bumper.

Capital Toyota in San Jose, CA refuses to complete the recall unless I bring the truck to them in stock condition. In other words they want me to first take the airbags off. I ask them to take them off and give them to me separate but they refused.

Has anyone had strategies dealing with this type of situation?

Play their game and take off the airbags...

Numerous people are being refused for the recall due to non-stock rear suspension.

So last year (I think, it might be even longer ago) I got my original notification about the recall. Then early this year got one saying contact a dealer to get the fix. Local dealer said I had to bring it in to inspect. They confirmed, approved, and ordered the parts for this "Urgent Safety Recall". A month or more and they still don't have the parts? WTF? Urgent my a$$. How long did it take those that have gotten the fix already to get their parts into the dealer once they were inspected?

No inspection required by my dealership... Called in, they ordered the parts, two weeks later they scheduled me to have the work done. Took them about four hours.

I had one break and extended warranty covered it but they wouldn't replace both or pay for new ones because my truck Is from Canada. But they did cover the rental car cost.

I don't know why some dealerships are so stingy with recall work? The manufacturer pays them back for the labor.

Got mine installed last week. Was approved for replacement and a month later all the parts were in.
