hearsay and gossip is exactly what you are doing. I posted this to let people know that a credible source told me they are working on the update. It will not be a recall in the form of a letter either. I was told that when it is out they will be updating trucks as they see them come in for other services. Hence why I posted this and why this website was made in the first place.

Believe what you want but this was not a bs post, unlike the post you made.

Again another helpful post from you. I'm sure you are the know it all. If you disagree then you prove it? I have already said what I was told. If you disagree and have credible source then go ahead.

A Toyota service Rep that travels to each car dealership for problems that the dealer cannot figure out or new problems that need to be addressed to Toyota and who knows the TSBs and fixes coming down straight from Toyota is all the proof I need over you.

@0210 I can confirm what the OP is stating. At the Hotel Tacoma event we had the pleasure of speaking to several Toyota Reps including a production engineer. They are aware of the issue and are working to resolve it.

I talk to factory reps and engineers on a weekly basis. 99% of the stuff the tell me is "coming" never happens.

The point of this post is? You don't care if it's a "credible source", Yet you are still posting so called gossip and bs. You are doing nothing helpful right now and your point or what ever you are trying to do is just your opinion and void of any fact or even hearsay.

Unhelpful in any way. Might want to read this thread https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/before-posting-anything-in-3rd-gen-read-this.411562/

    Can the bickering stop please?

Toyota is aware of the issue and trying to come up with a solution. They have to have a solution that improves performance but doesn't do so at a sacrifice to fuel economy or will cause reliability issues. This isn't exactly an easy thing to achieve so, if they can't develop a solution that meets the need I wouldn't expect them to release something that causes potential issues down the road or would cause fuel economy to drop.

I didn't even have to read your entire post, I saw the words, "toyota rep" in the first line of your post.

Either way thanks for the informative post OP.

Careful someone will call that engineer your uncle or best friend and that you must believe in Santa Claus.

On another note I don't get why some are so inclined to distrust Toyota... If so untrustworthy simple don't buy Toyota. I have trusted them the past 10 years. I won't buy anything but a Toyota.

Just out of curiosity. Did you talk about the transmission fluid level topic?

It was discussed. They didn't seem to know about it so I suggested they look here considering the number of times it's been mentioned. They were taking some pretty decent notes too.

I mentioned diesel and they stopped looked at me with the "not sure if serious" look and said to move on.

They never said they monitored TW. The trans issue with shifting may be an issue where customers have brought the vehicle back for service or warranty issues. They never said where they got that info from and only stated that it was known and they were looking into it.

When I met them it was Saturday night of the event and close to 11 and closing time for the bar. Being somewhat social I ran into them and asked who they were affiliated with (some we hand not run into any other forum's there) and they said Toyota. I said cool and they asked who I was with and I mentioned TW and they all stopped and huddled around like it was story time around the campfire. Then came 20 questions from them about what was being said about the truck on the TW. I said I had fun in the truck and was impressed with it overall (my ride and drive had a Baja 1000 winner at the wheel for a stretch and he beat the piss out of the truck *Jamie Bestwick*). We started chatting and I mentioned the trans issue and they awknowledged it. Stated the whistling lower control arms, they knew about it. Mentioned the low trans fluid and they said "wait what?". I forget what else was discussed but those were the bigger items mentioned. I suggested they come and visit the site but take what they read with a grain of salt as you're bound to run across the absolute die hard a that dislike the truck but you'll also find those that love it.

Im a diehard Toyota fan too but I'd go with a 2010-2016 4Runner Trail or a 2002-2004 Tacoma Extracab TRD 4x4 with a manual. I enjoyed the new Tacoma but wasn't really sold on it.
