Just tried to order a couple of shirts but the coupon they had before is expired. Hopefully they'll have another coupon before June 27. I will be leaving on a 4 day trip to Havasupai and would love to just pack 1 shirt for the entire trip.

I want some wool shirts. I do have some wool long john base layer type thing a from Minus33 and they're pretty good. You can hike and warm up but the merino regulates temp so well that you don't feel hot. They really don't stink either, it's amazing.

I have a 3 day backpack trip coming up later in the month, and I'm only taking the one shirt. So easy to just rinse it in some creek water and hang it to dry. Takes about 10 minutes to fully dry them because they're so high in lanolin oil content. If it passes the test and performs like it has so far, it will be the only shirt I bring on a 6 day trip later in the summer.

If I find any coupons or get something in my email, I'll share it. That old "Mayflower" coupon code has been expired for a while but sometimes pops up as an option on their site when you first go to the homepage.

I have a question for those who use camping stove. I was looking at the one that work with liquid gas and I was wondering if it worth it? Supposed to be better on fuel than propane. The only thing is that the one I saw was 14 000 BTU and the others on propane were between 20 000 and 25 000.

Also, is the gas container well sealed? I wouln't like to have a mess of fuel in mu truck bed.

Thaks all, it is a nice thread btw!

What camping stove were you looking at? I have three different liquid fuel models (two Colemans and an MSR) and I've never had a problem with leaks. As long as you release the pressure in the tank and tighten the cap back down before you store the stove you shouldn't have any problems. :notsure:

I was wondering what is the main difference between this one and the one that works with small green propane bottle.

Fuel. That one burns white gas, the other one that only uses propane. White gas is a lot cheaper than the little propane bottles. The propane is easier since there's no priming or pumping you have to do though.

X2. Plus, most of the modern ones are a dual-fuel design where they can either burn white gas or regular gasoline. I opted for the dual fuel unit, and it's saved me a trip to the store a few times over the years. Like I said before, I've never had a problem with any of them leaking.

I have the coleman white gas 2-burner like that that's decades old (70's? 80's? It was my Dad's) and it still works pretty well. It's having issues turning off immediately now but I don't know what would cause that. It has never leaked, though! And the tank of gas lasts a long time.

The Generator probably needs a rebuild. My parents have an old Coleman from the 60's that had that same problem until they rebuilt the generator about 10 years or so ago. Works like new again.

Thanks for the replies all! I think I will give a try to the liquid fuel one. If it is reliable like the one built in the 70's I will be really happy with it!

Hey all. I need some advice from you experts once again.

First, it looks like I'll be staying an extra day at Yosemite in September. I'm in the valley for two nights, but what is the best site to do get a first come first served site for the third day? Tuolumne? Wawona? Help!

Second, in trying to plan a trip west for the last week of August. I am leaving from DFW. I can spend about 8 days, maybe 9. I would LOVE to make it as far as Zion, but in looking at Colorado too. I know parts of Utah are gonna be hot (just like Texas), but I can still go to higher elevation. At least driving thru Monument Valley would be nice as well.

    Gimme your ideas!

The extra day in Yosemite is worth it. On route to Utah or rather, at the east end of Yosemite there is Mono Lake with the Tufa deposits...

Zion is definitely recommended, multiple days recommended. :) But it gets very crowded in the summer months and no cars are allowed to drive in the park during the summer peak season, so you'll need to take the shuttle to transit the park. Camping reservations in the park proper are hard to get as well, but again, worth it!
There are so many other parks in UT other than Zion though so I would recommend those as well! Grand Staircase, Bryce Canyon, Arches, ooooh and BLM/State Parks definitely check those out! Goblin Valley, or my favorite: the SAN RAFAEL SWELL. If you are into Canyoneering, off-roading, camping, everything outdoors! It is seriously a hidden gem in Utah. But don't tell anyone that.

Colorado is good for the forest, 14ers, beer and culture ;)

How long is it continuing to burn after you shut it off? Up to two minutes is considered normal, as it burns off the gas that's left in the tube between the valve and the burner. If it's longer than that you should rebuild it.
