Unless you're the one selling it then it is crap and not even worth half of what you are asking!

Guess I'm going with the Firestone Destination A/T's in 265/75/16's
Stock height so from what I read I can't really fit anything large without switching to an off-road specific tire and I really don't want to have to swap back and forth every time I attempt to go off roading.

Honestly going off the reviews on tire rack and what my coworkers run. I was going to go with the Grabber AT2's however I have been reading a lot of issues with cupping and longevity. I'll be running mostly highway with this truck besides the off road moments so I figured an on/off road all terrain would be ideal.

I'm open to suggestions I just don't want an off road specific tire and my budget is roughly about 135/tire

.... Plus firestone has a 60$ rebate and being cheap and asian that's all sorts of win right there....

I've never been a fan of Firestones and that was way before the whole Ford Explorer thing. You just want a P rated tire? Look at the Toyo AT2 or the Cooper AT3/ATP.

Well what would you suggest for a non-p rated tire?

edit just realized that I've been going at this all wrong - I'll up the budget and go with the LT's

If you want to step up to an LT than don't go any higher than a C load if you're driving a lot of highway and don't off road much. Both the Cooper AT3 and Toyo AT2 are also made in that size in C load

I had the General Grabber AT2's on my taco and really liked them. They looked decent, ride nice, had great year round traction, and no abnormal wear issues. They weren't as good off-road as the duratracs I had before that, but on road they were much quieter and smoother.

We had the firestones on a bunch of our work F150s when I was in the field. I was less than impressed with them personally all around. The stock michelin at tire that came on them was much better imo.

If you're looking for a decent tire that's not super aggressive I really like the Cooper ATW that we put on the wife's t4r last year. They are basically a cooper at3 with a ton more siping. In the snow/ice they.are about as close as you can get to a dedicated snow tire. They look decent and ride really nicely too.20150908_143226.jpg

Holy Bejeezus. I got a DD Coldbrew iced coffee today because I hadn't tried one yet. LOTS of caffeine. I may or may not be having a hard time sitting still right now. :goingcrazy:

And I finished drinking it almost 3 hours ago.

A P-rated truck tire is rated for far more than the Taco will handle. Unless you want the stronger sidewall for off road or you're constantly hauling, a P-rated tire will get the job done. That's what I had on my Ferd, I have SL (Standard Load) now but they are the same load index as the P-rated ones I had prior.
See above. I would stick to P-rated truck/SUV tires or SL rated.
Personal preference, but I would steer clear of the Cooper AT3. They cup very easily and get loud as they age. They are good traction-wise though.

Well, my '13 is finally broken in - odometer just flipped to 20k... The F150 S'Crew idea won't materialize as it's a want and not a need. Soooo, we're keeping the Tacoma - maybe I can justify a few mods as needs to make it more of what I'd like...

I would really, really (ok one more) really like to go back to a full size - F150 or Superduty but I've got the Tacoma just about paid for and don't want to add more debt. When I bought the Tacoma, I had just experienced a 4th time tranny failure on my Cummins (broke the input shaft no less) and decided me and automatics aren't the best combination (also broke the one in my Parent's car back when I was a teenager - Peugeot no less). The Tacoma was the only one that came with a stick unless I dropped about 60K for a new Cummins which is just out of the picture. For 60k, I can think of a bunch of better vehicles than a pickup. This was purely a want and not necessarily a need so to speak.

I did treat that thing pretty hard. It was bombed out the wazoo as they say. Too much torque which was causing the converter to slip. So at rebuild #3, I had heavy duty clutches installed to go with the aftermarket valve body from tranny #2. I got the great idea of a triple disc converter which would snap your head back when it engaged. Too much shock for the metal parts. It would lay two strips a few hundred feet long. Now you can see why it broke. The Taco is a nice ride, I baby that thing. Actually, it best I didn't go for an F150 as I was looking at the 3.5 twin turbo which has a lot of aftermarket support to add power for breaking parts. I should know better at my age...
