4.88's in an auto are going to put you over 2600 RPM's on the highway which is the point at which our gas mileage turns to total and complete shite. I think it is important that that topic is covered with folks that are new on the scene....how many times have we seen the regret posts around gas mileage for DD's....

You're right, there are dumb fucks in every thread.

"I have 35s on a my 4.0 toyota engine regeared with 4.56s and I'm not seeing the 22mpg that was on the sticker. What gives?"

22 MPG...I don't think you would see that unless you took more acid than Jimi Hendrix and drank more bourbon than Janis Joplin...at the same time...hell even then you would have to be going downhill with a 50mph tail wind in neutral ...with the motor off...on a trailer

I ran my 35s : General grabber red letters which are pretty damn heavy on 3.73s for quite some time and i can tell you that it sucked. It was fine for the highway but you shifted allot. For Areas that have allot of hills it become unpleasant.

I opted to give myself a small boost and picked up some 4:10s as my DD was about 90/10 flat terrain. The idea was to go with 4:10s to be a tad under geared for the every day highway speeds and crawl box for the weekends when wheeling.

Now that they have the 4:30s, if i did it over again id go with the 4:30s and go with a lighter 35

Same, glad I listened to @ChandlerDOOM and @Sacrifice when they suggested installing 4.56's to go with my 315's.

I'd love to. Just way out of my league to do by myself and I wouldn't trust any of the "shops" around here to do the work. Maui off-road already fucked my truck up once.

Are 4:88's really too much for 35's.. Or 34.5's? In an auto that is. MPG already sucks as is, figure it can't get much worse.
