Lol. @Toyko Joe wins. But got 1up'd by the famous thumb.

Oh, and they ran it by the techs, they do not know anything of the lights coming on.

Seems that there is a recall that sounds a lot like the symptoms that are being reported:

    https://www.automd.com/recall/campaign_c101663/

2013 Toyota Tacoma Electronic Stability Control Recall 14V054000
    • Action Number: N/A
      Service Bulletin Number: 14V054000
      Report Date: Feb 12, 2014

      Component: Electronic Stability Control
      Potential Units Affected: 261114
Manufacturer: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing

    • Summary: Toyota is recalling certain model year 2012 and 2013 toyota tacoma and lexus rx350 vehicles and certain model year 2012 toyota rav4 vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the brake system contains a brake actuator that adjusts the fluid pressure of each wheel cylinder. An electrical component within the actuator may experience an increased resistance resulting in the illumination of various warning lights, including those for the vehicle stability control (vsc) system, antilock brake system (abs), and traction control system.

Consequence: If this occurs, these systems could become inoperative, reducing the directional control assistance, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and toyota and lexus dealers will update the software for the skid control electronic control unit, free of charge. The recall began on march 28, 2014. Owners may contact toyota at 1-800-331-4331.

Notes: Owners may also contact the national highway traffic safety administration vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (tty 1-800-424-9153), or go to www. Safercar. Gov.

Check the alternator and the battery - I've had cars in the past (not Tacomas) that have done the same thing during electrical system issues.

So I dropped it off this morning. The tech pulled codes. They cleared them. They drove it. They found nothing wrong.

I didn't add to my original post that I would have bet 17 mortgage payments this would be the outcome, as I didn't wanna sound pessimistic.

So I will simply say that I am hardly shocked.

Exactly. I would get a print out from them on what DTC or DTCs came up. With an FJ, when all those lights come on it was known as the xmas tree of doom. When they lit up there was a number of things that could be wrong. They weren't tied to a specific module or system. Also, when those lights came on it meant that the Traction Control and ABS systems are disabled.

I have had the VSC light to your left in your guages light up on me for no good reason reason. Upon scanning the issue, it appears that I lost my YAW calibration. All I did was perform a Zero point calibration reset and all was good to go once again. Yours sounds like a different issue.

Wheel sensor codes. Service manager said it's on the paperwork. Unfortunately I won't get the truck back while the technician is still there, because I had some other questions for him.

He had to take it for a drive this morning to get the lights to come on the dash. Once they did he returned to shop, pulled said codes, cleared codes, determine a rear wheel sensor triggered code, put on stall to analyze speeds sensors, claims the sensors and their data stayed identical between all tires, took out of stall, parked it outside, and called me to tell me what I knew they would say 3 days ago when the lights came on.

The first thing I thought when the lights came on was "whoa, do my brakes still work? OK they do". Second immediate thought "great, so looking forward to them finding no problem as I waste time and move things around to take my truck in".

Also, what should a code look like on the paperwork? Just so I know it's really the code and not some shorthand description? Thanks.

It should be a Letter followed by four numbers XXXX. Like this example: P0304.

My TPMS light began blinking on my way back from Moab a couple days ago. I was doing about 80mph and got worried I had an air leak in a tire. Pulled over. All was good. TPMS light stopped blinking and stayed on. Checked tires again. All good. Turned off the truck. Started it back up. TPMS blinked and then stopped. No problem since.

Sensors - leading cause of problems. LOL
