I'm going to use my other PWO scoop for Mr. Hyde from now on. The Hyde scoop is too big. I like the energy I get for the workout but I'm not coming off of it very well. It's been 4 hours since I took it and I still feel amp'd up. Same thing the first day I took it. My other scoop is probable 1/3 of the size so I'll see how that goes instead...

But how does a bulk phase cut bf?
I'm with you. The key words in there were "for me anyway". As you stated, you don't have to bulk to build muscle. Much has to do with your lifestyle and body. For example, I can't bulk. I already eat 4300 calories a day and weigh 156 at 6'. I also have multiple food allergies that keep me from pigging out on really shitty food. My bulking would be to just eat more and I get tired of eating sometimes now. Also because I lack crappy food in my diet, it makes me feel crappy when I eat some of it thus effecting my overall life. Lean bulking is all I can do. It's easy for me to put on muscle mass while maintaning 6% bf because nothing in my life adds excess fat to my body.

Reason I asked Adam is because I want to know if he thinks it's necessary because he knows his body or because people say that's what he needs to do. Some people just can't have that low of bf and vica versa just like some people can't have huge muscles and weigh 250#s

Because my ultimate goal is to be around 10-12% body fat my height I won't carry less than 10 well. So by bulking back up 10-15 lbs of clean bulking then drop it back down will to me force my muscles into size. I am not currently gaining size as far as muscles anywhere except my chest and legs. I feel it will force me to burn more fat and retain most of my new muscle growth.

Bulking doesn't - they bulk up and end up with 18-20% BF and then cut back down to 10-12% BF...I think the end goal is to add a bunch of weight and then try to cut down to being 5-10#s heavier than they were before they started? IDK - I just slowly add weight overtime and maintain the BF. Takes a long time though, I've added 10lbs in about a year and my BF has stayed with +-1% of where I started...

Also, bulking is just an excuse for being fat :stirthepot:

Not only that but it's what I want to do. I don't know enough about myself to know if it will even work but I'm going to try.

Yeah I know what the goal of doing it is, that's why I specifically asked Adam. I'm not telling you it's wrong or to not do it, just curious what your reasoning behind it was.

If I took a magic pill and could all of a sudden eat whatever I want and put on however much size I wanted consequently, I still wouldn't do it because I like being lean. I've never been "fat" a day in my life and would choose to stay this way even if given an easy way to accomplish the opposite

I'm still cutting, technically...I just haven't adjusted my calories. I like being at the 155 mark, I just want less fat. So that's what I'm working on right now. Probably have to cut the calories here soon to really get where I want, though.

Right now I'm around 2500. The breakdown in MFP shows 250 p, 188 c and 83 f, which is probably High on fat. I never really reach that, and usually go slightly over on my carbs. Which is probably why I'm not as cut as planned at this point.

My question to you is are you really able to build muscle with such a low bodyfat? When I lean bulk I don't mind gaining some fat, I eat on a low surplus while being more laid back with my diet. I don't go out of control and pig out because "its OK I'm bulking bro".

    I gotcha. I'm still
Learning what works for me and what doesn't. I think it will also do me a huge bit of good to come off the cut after a full year and just eat 6-700 calories more I know it's gotta increase my strength at the very least.

That's my end-goal...I wanna get down to 9-10% and lean bulk forever and then just do mini cuts (1-2 months)before the beach and stuff

I do have to bulk to build muscle. It's physically impossible to gain muscle on a caloric deficit unless you're on steroids. At 156 lbs and 6', I wouldn't rule out a dirty bulk lol. I weighed close to that before I started lifting lol.

True. I get fat in the winter (15-17% bf). I'm trying to cut that out though. The way I've been doing it, I end up with 5-13 lbs of new muscle each year...usually on the low end of that. Since I started lifting in 2008, I've gained a total of 70 lbs. My lbm in 2008 was probably 125-130 lbs at like 9-10% bf for a total of around 140 lbs and now I'm at 195 lbs and probably 12-14% bf, so my lbm is around 167-175, which is a total of about 40-50 lbs of muscle gained on 7 years. The downside is that you've got to put on fat to gain that kind of mass. The upside is that getting fat tastes so good. Like I said, the goal is to get to around 9-10% bf and lean bulk fo life with mini cuts in there, too.

I just don't see it happening. At below 10% bodyfat, I'd say it's next to impossible to gain muscle and stay that lean.....unless you're putting on half a pound every 6 months....but holy fuck, those can't even be considered results lol!

I'm up from 160# to 170# from Dec. and my BF hasn't changed...It stays between 9.5%-10.5% depending on how bad my weekend was (I usually measure on Mondays)

That's doable, but if you were below 10% (like 5-8%), I think it would be significantly harder. What you're doing is what my end-goal is.....if I cant ever get out of the teen-body-fats lol

I remember watching ogus (terrible source I know) he said you start gaining muscle around 12%ish.. I'm just wondering what people's experiences are.

Lean bulking always forces me to lose weight. I guess my body/metabolism are all fucked up. If I "bulk," I blow the fuck up (in a bad way). The only cutting that has ever really worked for my is this hellish keto shit I am on right now.
