keep thinking that, champ. Go ahead and keep wasting money on waxes while i stack checks from detailing without it.

    But you know best.

And for those using Meguiars Ultimate Liquid Wax... It's actually not a wax at all. It's a synthetic sealer!

Waxes, sealers, and coatings all have their place in the detailing world. Then there are the All-in-ones. They all have their own inherent advantages and disadvantages. And many people like to use some combination of the three. In the end- using ANY one of them is better than using nothing, regardless of what it contains.

I'm not advising against quick (spray) waxes. I think they're awesome. I use them after washes and I think they might prolong the service of the underling sealer that I use.

Just wanted to add- there are some really nice spray on-wipe off paint sealers out there now. Blackfire makes one called Crystal Seal. Optimum makes one called Opti-seal. Wolfgang makes one. All available on Autogeek. They're expensive, but the bottle will last a long time. It takes very little. Like one spritz per panel. Two applications a year will do you. Just another option.

You got that right!! I believe it was one of the guys at Meguiar's who said that the key is to "use what you like, and use it often"

AMEN! I was skeptical/hesitant to try coatings. I always did a SEALANT then topped with wax for giggles. Detailing is therapy for me. Then I tried Optimum Gloss Coat...why did I even fuck with waxes or sealants before. It's easier to work with than any sealant or wax plus far superior.

First thing I did to wife's new 4Runner was a quick paint correction and finished with the coating. Vehicle was barely a week old. Now with that said I still but waxes because Optimum allows to be topped if I want. Not necessary at all but I like to do to clear my head.

For all of you bitching @LTDSC you need to realize he is a true detailer. Not shade tree like 99% of us on here. He knows his shit. Those using A big box crap wax don't know shit.

Then use Optimum Opti-seal. Wipe on walk away sealant. Better than 95% of the products in this thread.

I'm happy with the results myself. The mowing service just got through "Mowing & Blowing" and the grass never stuck to the black paint on my truck. I'll use Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax from here on out.

Wow i didn't realize what a ruffle this was gonna cause by just sharing a brand of wax that i personally thought was very good. I didn't expect it to be blown into " wax is for dumbies " and this coating is the best etc.
I have never tried a $60-$80 coating and im sure they work well but at the same time i dont mind polishing & waxing my vehicles twice a year either ... i actually enjoy it
