    Hey everyone-

I need some help guys. My truck is dire need of aid and im between a rock and a hard place. Long story-short version-

The marriage went south, wife and new hubby beat the crap out of the truck, broke/damaged multiple things and now I have regained custody but my truck needs some serious help.

-All dash lights come on when the truck runs. SRS, check engine, 4x4 oil. the whole damn thing.

-4x4 does not work and 4x4 light is blinking

-truck will not run on the first start no matter what. It starts but dies immediately. Always starts and idles on the second attempt though.

-it will not rev past 3k and when i attempt to accelerate, the truck down shifts but bogs down. Feels like no power and as soon as i let off the gas she evens out. Its not like i cant get up0 to freeway speed but she just doesnt rev

Those are the most pressing issues. There is a slew of things wrong but it seems like these are the most important to fix right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, I feel for ya man. Sounds like the truck was beat up pretty good and neglected. Hope someone here can get you pointed in the right direction.

    Too few to list.
I had a truck that had a clogged cat that would not rev past 4k. You might want to check on that. It could also be the reason why it would not idle at first start since it can't get any exhaust out. Also check the maf sensor for any clogging and the air filter also.

4x4 - could be as simple as a switch or a module not engaging.

I wonder though, did they screw up the truck because they knew you were going to get it back or did they just screw it up to begin with?

You should also check your gas if the first one is the case. Check for anything unplugged or cut wiring.

Well im very capable mechanically but i just need a lead first. I dont have a scanner to read the computer codes so its just up to my best guess and obvious symptoms to find out what the deal is.

The truck has just a little over 60k on the odometer. I agree, its gotta have something to do with the MAF because I can definitely smell gas in the exhaust. But it runs just fine otherwise. Its only under load that the truck struggles to keep the revs up.

I'll check the cat and a few other things because im almost positive they took it through multiple mud bathes and water crossings, but is there a tell-tale sign or area i can look to or photograph for you guys to help? Vid of it running?

    Thanks guys

the truck as she sits now

Ahh the multiple mud baths might indicate the alternator is not outputting properly. Check your voltage with a meter.

Check voltages, check inside your air box for signs of water or mud.

If your 4x4 is blinking, maybe the wires underneath were disconnected/torn from the transfer case actuator. Have you looked underneath the truck to inspect the wiring?

This could also be intentional and her new idiot simply unplugged some wiring connections, cut some wires, etc. Check connections to see if all is well. Check the fuse panel to see if any fuses have been blown/removed.

When you say the truck has been beat up, do you mean cosmetic trail damage or they literally and purposely caused damage to the truck?

You say you recently regained custody of your truck. Did a judge decide this? Was it your all along and they just joy-rided it? Sue them for damages and have them pay for ALL the repairs.

Have the CE light scanned at a local auto parts store or independent shop to see what codes are being communicated.

    -Voltage checked out fine

-Newish air filter wish no abnormal signs of wear

-As for the 4x4, I havent gotten under the truck to give it a thorough checkup but I think the problem is a damaged or non existant connection. Its all kinds of screwed up. It feels like the rear locks up or is constantly locked because the tires will hop big time when turning just even 75%

-Im sure the truck endured all kinds of punishment. Malicious or not, the truck has mechanical, cosmetic and serious interior damage.

-It would be nice if we lived in a world where it was as easy as suing but these people now live off the grid in a, nomadic, loser-ish kind of way. Dont even know where they are or when i will hear from her next. I had to go up to her property to take the truck back when i heard she hadnt been living there for a while.

-My buddy is going to come by with a scanner later this month so im crossing my fingers, hoping for the best and expecting the worst. . .
