Anyone else carry one of those portable jump packs with them? I used to carry jumper cables however I've been looking at an alternative because half the time the cables aren't long enough to reach what I'm jumping due to parking angles or direction. Something similiar to this would be a nice addition I think...

I carry a 12V compressor, tire plug kit, a basic tool set with wrenches, ratchets and screw drivers, duct tape and zip ties. I have a good set of jumper cables that will reach the length of the truck so, if I ever do actually nose in (which is rare), I could still jump the truck from a vehicle behind it.

You got it, I might have some other random Tacoma maintenance stuff laying around also like drain plug gaskets and I'll see if I have any filters left.

Just cables I have a jump pack but no room to store in the truck. I leave it in the wife's Rav4.

 

New carpets tomorrow. I think I'm going to be awake all night moving the living room into the kitchen and cutting up the existing rugs

 

Buy a good utility knife and a package of blades

 

I forget the brand but I spent about $9 at Home despot for a quick change knife and 100 blades

 

Not to mention a good dust mask. 3M has a version with an exhaust valve which are cooler.

I have one, but it's never with me, lol. I keep jumper cables in all the trucks, plus the '84 and the '69 have man pedals, so I can always push start them if need be.

 

Part of me wishes I bought a manual.. the other part doesn't. I spend most of my day in traffic commuting so an auto is awesome.

 

The Tacoma's the first Automatic I've had in 10 years. I went with the slushbox partly for the extra mpg's, but I also test-drove a couple of manuals when I was shopping and I didn't like the shift points on them. First gear wouldn't even take me across the lanes at a stoplight unless I wanted to rev the nuts off it, and in stop & go traffic downtown where my '99 was "1st-2nd-hold 2nd" the trucks I test drove were "1st-2nd-3rd-2nd-3rd-2nd-3rd" and I knew it'd drive me nuts.

 

I never even test drove a manual taco - I went straight for the automatic. So far I'm content - I am concerned that the previous owner beat the crap out of the trans as it shifts a bit harsh at times, and the fluid is topped off. Might consider trading both the taco and the evo in for a 2016.. but I'll wait a year for them to work the kinks out.

I "settled" for an AT because of the wife, in case anything ever happened and she had to drive the rig, since she doesn't know how to drive MT.

Before this, all of my cars were MT.

Mind out of the gutter. I tried to teach her how to, but she wasn't having it. Oh well.

 

Other way around. Cupcake's 96 was a 5 speed. Took her a month getting used to the Rav4 being an auto.

The 96 was starting to need a clutch so I figured I'd try to learn to drive it when we got ready to replace the clutch. Before that happened, we had to replace the rest of the truck as well.
