Maybe there is mildew on the material itself that the window rides up and down on in the channel inside the door.... Not sure if a Toyota uses rubber or a form of fabric.

I think you may have it. When I had the interior panel removed, I likewise removed the large speaker, so as to access the open area between the plastic barrier, and the outer wall of the door. I did smell the mildew at the speaker hole, but it really wasn't all that intense - surely not what you would expect, if there was indeed, trash and crap in the bottom of the door that had mildewed. The strongest odor is definitely at the top of the window slot, so that may be the culprit. As best I remember, the outside material is rubber, but I believe the inside is some kind of fabric. Again, I'll have to check this. Surely this can be replaced !

    Stock. For now.
How about between the rubber trim around the door. And the door.

Anyone made any progress with this problem yet. I just haven't had time to investigate further. :hattip:

Keep an eye out on the back window. I noticed mine was leaking the other day from the top and dripping onto the back panel. Also an 07 AC

it does seem to be the rubber strips. they actually lool like they are some kind of high density foam. I tried some rubbing alcohol on a sponge didnt seem to work. best bet is probably replace them but if u get new oem whats to say they wont get mildew again. ...
