Tint questions

I was thinking of tinting my front windows of my DC.
What % are the rear windows? In Maine we're only allowed 20% on the front and was wondering how it would look against the rear windows.

If anyone has pics or info I'd appreciate it.

 

That looks great. WHere did you get your tint from? I've seen pre cut sheets on ebay, but have no idea what quality they are.

Also, what % is the factory tint on the rear windows? I just looked at the laws again and they state only %50 for the front.

 

Differs from state to state.

I went w/20% to match stock rear. Will see what happens when time comes. Local enforcement wont mess with trucks usually, just role side windows down if you see the troopers. Other than that the worst you got to worry about is redoing your tint once a year, thats if your inspector is anal.

I was told the OEM rear is 20% by my tint guy who I've used for years. The front does have a mild tint to it as well so he put on 35% which, added to the OEM, actually makes it 28% and keeps me legal.

 

I was told the same thing. But dont trust my tint shop. Can't wait to get sited so I have an excuse for the wife. Little she knows, new shop, but it still wont be LEGAL, LOL...

 

i did 20% in the front and left the rears stock and from the outside it looks like an exact match however from the inside looking out the rears seem lighter, due to the factory glass is not tinted with a film.

 

I was told by my tint guy that the rear on the 2008 is 18%. He matched up the front and it's pretty darn close.

 

I also have 20% Legal here is 35% MAX.. but i am legal because i have a solar sesitivity perscription from my doctor. I have had for years and never been harassed about the tint. I have been waiting to whip it out only after the cop had done all the testing and was about to write me the ticket.

My fronts are darker than the rear... I am going in t have the rear done with a 50% sheet over stock to darken it up a bit and try to match the 20% EXACTLY!!

 

I wish I knew how much tint was on my truck. Guy who owned it before me had it tinted. It used to have a HUGE strip across the windshield that I insisted the dealer remove before I took delivery of the truck. I couldnt stand it.

 

Any good tint shop should be able to let you know.... (Some Cops have a light reader that slides over the window and tell them how much light is let through.. They are pretty neat!

My tint guy charges more for illegal tint (state law is 27% VLT), makes no sense to me, but will put a sticker under the tint on the front windows stating the degree of tint (28% in my case) if you go legal. Bottom line, I'm 37 and I don't feel like being bothered by these idiot cops around here anymore.
