So, I turned the truck on for the AC when I was working on putting the cluster back in, and I put the trans in 1 (automatic, bad idea, i know). Truck died. Will not restart.

    Any ideas?

No ECM connections have been touched

    Thanks

I might add that it died while the E Brake is on and trans was in gear at the time. No throttle input. Ran fine all day...

That rules out the neutral safety switch, which was my thought...

Maybe you knocked your connector loose on your key switch

By chance did you disconnect any of the plugs that might be the neutral safety switch circuit ??

    To late it seems

Strange. Might want to start checking fuses to see if anything is popped.

This. Start pulling the fuses 1 by 1 to see if you blew one.

I was working on my GFs camry and had something similar happen but hers would still start. I blew the ECU fuse. Replaced that and everything was back to normal

Also... Is the car in park now when you try to restart it? Vehicle wont start if its in 1.

Check all fuses. Might have blown the fuses to your fuel pump, injectors, or spark plugs. If it cranks, it should start if everything is getting power

I blew the 75 amp Ignition fuse. Second one I pulled. So it's easy. And yes, i tried restarting in P.

I'm assuming it blew because I was plugging in the panel while it was running...

Anybody know why it could have blown?

Also now I guess I should probably wait to start it until some fuel evaporates.

Fuses blow because a current was running when the connection was being made. Its a fail safe to make sure you dont fry the electronics in the vehicle.

I dont understand your post. My comment about how a fuse blows, answered why his blew. He plugged in something with a current running causing an overload and the fuse to blow.

There are only 2 ways for a fuse to blow. A vehicle electrical issue causing overload on its own or user error causing an overload. In this case since he was messing with the electronics, it was user error blowing the fuse i.e. plugging in electronics while the vehicle was on.

Yeah, I know. I thought it was funny you gave him a generic response, my impression was he wanted to know what connector specifically he touched to something else or whatever that made the fuse blow :)

Gotcha. If he wanted to know that then... Any connector he touched and plugged in/unplugged while the vehicle was on was the cause of the problem.

    Well... Back to work :pccoffee:
