This thread is for the "do it yourselfers".
I want to see creative solutions to the truck storage dilema.
We've all seen toolboxes (booooring) and aftermarket camping racks.
Racks are great for expedition camping, but lets see storage for daily use items like tools, sporting equiptment, extra fuel, dead bodies, or anything else you can think of.
(Not limited to 2nd gen or even tacomas. I put this thread in 2nd gen because i figure this is the most commonly viewed.)

Very small amount of storage but the ammo box solution is nice and keeps things out of the way. I store tow straps, bunjees, and my stock bedrail mounts in these (could probably fit just a little more stuff):

It may just be me, 'cause I'm an ammo guy...but ammo boxes scream "ammo"! Yes, they're great for other stuff, but I'd want a soft top at least over something that obvious.
One of the big pick-em-up mfgrs. has a bedside storage locker that they push as somewhere to store your rifles or shotguns. Right, like THAT is a good idea.

I have dry boxes under my bed cover. Four in the front of the bed and two mounted over the wheel wells. Modular, light, easy to manage.

I know nothing is 100% theft proof, but to steal these boxes you'd have to be able to open them to get to the nuts and to open them they require a key for those locks. Obviously, someone could spend the time (and make the noise) to hacksaw the bolt/nuts off or get some big ass bolt cutters and clip the locks... but for what I keep in them it works.

It's okay. Only a complete idiot is going to stick ammo in an ammo box mounted to the bedrail for all to see, and if some other idiot ever came by to nab a bed rail mounted ammo box thinking for the slightest reason there was actual ammo in there, well then I'd have to stick a engraved trophy in the box that read "Jackass of the Century".
