Just got it back from the alignment shop. Popping is gone with a proper align. Drives like a dream now with that new rack and all new front end. Couldn't be happier.

Knoll is my spot. Camp on that south point and it's only 200' to the water down a steep hill. Private fishing point all to yourself, and the trout fishing is so easy there during stocking season. Huge camp area there, nice and flat, could have about 20 trucks camping up there. There's even sand in the trail at the end which makes an awesome horseshoe pit. Here's how to get to it from the I-17 to the 260, but just take Rim Road if you're coming through Payson and coming in by Woods Canyon Lake:

    https://drive.google.com/open?id=1KnwxutB6Bajgj2qqv-uVgBJBt88&usp=sharing

You could portage a kayak down there but you'd be huffing when you brought it back up. You can hide a kayak in the woods off of that point, too.

Jealous. I'll be there in early August. Going to fish from Onion Valley south to Mt. Whitney. Hoping for the Sierra Grand Slam, just not all in the same day. Once we're done with Whitney, we're going to spend 2 days in Mammoth again. Love that place.

That's the secret 4x4 camp spot. Go around the lake on a graded road and there's a nice flat cement boat ramp right by the developed camp area. Launch nice and easy right there right from the truck, and camp closeby.

Shore space doesn't allow for a lesser experienced flyfisherman. If you have a good roll cast, then no problem. Much of the shoreline drops down fairly quickly into deeper water, but over by the dam and the boat ramp you could flyfish. Float tube or kayak would be best though. We always catch tons of trout every time, and literally thousands of crawdads in my 9 traps and we have huge boils for dinner.

I grew up in Cali, so I always went kings, and then ducks. But eventually as I got older I wanted to be different so I went Avalanche for probably the last 15 years or so now.
