What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

alright guess Ill throw it on this weekend, was just wondering if i could get away with not having it

 

Found this. Door sticker says its a 96. The entire frame has been plated over but it wasn't enough... This is why 1st gens are so rare here

 

Small update for the sake of documentation. The misfire came back this morning, not as bad as before, but back none the less. A little research revealed that I used the wrong plugs last time. Apparently this motor MUST have dual electrode plugs. I should have known since it's what I pulled out of it and there's even a sticker on the motor with the same info...I'm sure it's old news for a lot of you guys but I'm still learning about these motors.

Today I swapped in the exact part# plugs that the owners manual mentions, kind of annoyed but hopefully that's a wrap on this issue

 

That's a 98-00 front end though

 

Some 97s got that front end. The 96 on the door sticker will be the date of manufacture. My 99 says 08/98 on the door sticker. I think it is a 97. The op can post the vin and we can run it to be sure. 10th digit indicates model year.

 

I kinda agree. If the date of manufacturer is in 96' it would still possibly be a 97. And would have a 95.5- 97 front end. Interesting though. That early of manufacturer I don't see how it would be a 98?

Figured it out. It is a 2wd. In 97 the 2wd got the 98-00 headlights.

 

It has the 98-00 bumber valence, grill, and lights. Hmmmm.

 

Sorry, by headlight i meant front end. I just found that rockauto lists the 98-00 style headlight for the 97 2wd and the sealed beam for the 4x4. I also just google imaged 97 tacoma and found the same story.

Okay cool, I'll note that for any other ones that I make for a 1st gen.

@SlipperyTaco coukd probably provide you with more pics but I made him mounts that were bent to 90 degree and he vertically bolted them to the top of his bedrails.

 

Ouch...but gotta do what we gotta do.....gonna take measurements at the shop and have my pops fab me up some beefy ones...then have my buddy weld them

What rob said below....doesnt affect the bumper at all.

Btw....ill be taking my old tg bumper back....not sure if its bent but it will be cheap
