part # for 921 reverse lamp socket? 2008 tacoma

my right reverse plug is rusted/corroded. does anyone know the part # for this? i cant find the part anywhere.

 

Is this a trick question? The part number IS 921.

no prob, Nortan! I try not to pay close attention to stuff when Im not in the office.. i went ahead and ordered from a reputable dealer and returned these. I am not comfortable with the 880 retrofit as I will be towing and am concerned about the excess draw in combination with the back up lights on the trailer. That 880 write up if killer tho! mad props to dude.

 

i noticed u are a senior member; are there any mods you have made that you would recommend? perhaps you could point me to the thread? much appreciated my dude.

I did a bunch of mods on my '04 that was, sadly, totaled in an accident about three months ago. I started fresh with the 2013 version of my '04 (same model, options, color) in April, so I'm still learning the 2nd Gen world and there are lot more experienced 2nd Gen owners floating around here. Thanks! Very true! I like the 2nd Gen, which includes many nice/upgraded features, but I still miss my 1st Gen.

I've read mixed reports on upgraded traditional/halogen bulbs running too hot for the fixture and causing damage (melting). Any truth to that? How long have you run yours?

 

I've had those in there for about 3 months with no issues. Nice and bright. Read about those issues in this thread, that is why I went with the 30 watt bulbs and not the 50 watt.

 

The reports I've read on that are that you're fine as long as they don't stay on for long. A lot of guys doing indefinitely and it and seems to be fine. But I suppose that one time you put it in reverse with your foot on the brake... And inadvertently leave it there for a minute...

Philips makes a 921 LED available on Amazon. I'm running it now.

Like harpolith, I'm running LEDs. I like the fact that LEDs draw less power draw and run at lower temps, but I'm always curious about other options.

 

you can buy just the socket by itself without the wiring. part #90980-10988 about $13/each.

 

I tried LED (from an official TW vendor) in my CHMSL. Within two weeks, 2 out of the 3 were flickering. Swapped the stock bulbs back in. Not a fan of LED.
