Door issue

I bought a new 2010 Taco and the driver door does not close properly. Unless I close it hard it basically stays slightly ajar. When I took it into the dealer for the 1000 mile check up I was told that they were seeing this on some of the new trucks but as of yet had not come up with a way of fixing it. They applied some silicone on the door jambs - and told me if that didn't work to check back with them. Of course that did not work...
Has anyone else run into this problem? This is my third taco and I am seeing issues like this more and more... Are they becoming too American?

My original 1996 taco is now owned by my father and it has never had any issues!

The dealership should be able to help you because it is under warranty (brand new).

 

i never paid attention to my door latch setup. most vehicles have and adjustable latch. i was having trouble shutting my tailgate but i just adjusted the latches and now its fine and it sits more flush with the outside of the truck...

check how it sits with the rest of the body panels...

 

I had that problem with an older chevy. I had to replace the door pins and it worked fine. take it back. its brand new and they are being lazy

 

That was a MAJOR problem with Chevys and GMCs until the Silverado and Sierra came out in 1999.

 

wtf,they put silicone where?thats just not right imo.maybe its an issue with the flexy frame thing.transportor might of torqued it down to tight.

 

I notice you have an access cab.
Me too and my front doors don't latch very well either. The dealer did some adjusting or so they said. It didn't look like they did much, not much improvement.
I think it may be because front door latches onto the back door and there is no solid post.
It sounds cheap like an old dump truck or something. Not very solid sounding.
And you have to slam them pretty hard to get them to shut all the way.

I went out on the new car lot and checked out a couple of other access cabs and they were all the same.
The double cab doors worked much better and were more solid sounding.

 

It's probably just an adjustment. My pass rear door (access cab) was loose from the start and would rattle off road. I took it down, they re-adjusted... been solid ever since.

 

I have the same issue on the driver's side of my 2010 Access Cab. It's gotten a bit better over time (3-4 months), but it's definitely not correct. I still have give it quite a thrust to close it properly.

 

You can adjust the door latches with simple hand tools. I adjusted my two rear doors to tighten them up a bit when he truck was new.

If the dealer won't help you just take it to a bodyshop, they should be able to fix the problem.

 

Sounds like that exact same issue. They told me they have been hearing about it. I'm bitching until they fix it - 30k for a truck with a door issue? I think not... suggest you do the same. maybe we can get somewhere.
