Didn't feel a thing here. Nothing like a good shake to get the blood flowing. Been through 2 magnitude 7+ here in LA all about 20 years apart which means...anytime now

Although before the '72 quake it was close to 50 years between the Long Beach and Sylmar quakes.

I live between (2) very active fault zones the San Andreas and San Jacinto and maybe under a 1/4 mile from the San Andreas and live on the very edge of the Pacific plate side

I usually don't feel any of the 3.0 or smaller quakes but anything above that I definitely feel them . Since I live near these faults and In very shallow bedrock the quakes hit extremely hard with violent jolts

I live right on top of the New Madrid Fault. It essentially follows the lower 1/2 of the Ohio River and into Missouri. It's stable, but has been known to really shake 'em up! Big quake back in the 1800's....

Our house is also close enough to the tank gunnery range at Ft Knox that the ground shakes when they're doing live fire training. Reminds me of those fun days in the Oklahoma dust @ Ft Sill!

Since moving out here 9 years ago we've had numerous 5.0 or larger quakes and most of them I've been less than a mile or more from the epicenter

I also remember the Landers / Big Bear quakes

The rock is alot older and denser where you are, quakes shake alot more but the faults are more stable then here on the ring of fire.

As far as why live on shaky ground? Well we never had a hurricane or flood.

I'm born and raised in Northern Calif and moved to Socal in 1987 just a few years after I got out of the Marines in 84 .funny thing is my last duty station MCAGCC 29 Palms I now live not far from there LOL !!

I've been thru hundreds of earthquakes from northern California to southern California and have grown accustomed to them which is not good as you want to be prepared in the event the big one hits

I do have a nice IFAK (individual first aid kit ) that is more of a major trauma style kit and has everything I need . Also have a bug out bag ready if/when it's needed

I think alot of Californians have become very complacent and hope they stay prepared just like I have

Do you remember the Landers / Big Bear quakes in 1992 ???? . I was with my old 4x4 club sleeping in a campsite outside Landers when the quake hit @ 5 am . Later that morning @ 9 am the Big Bear quakes hit at 9 am and that was a 6.5 and was felt in the Landers area

ture hell here we may have a little shaking every 10 years or so. we see a tornado almost never, and were so far inland and at the foothills of the mtns by the time a hurricane gets here it's just a really bad storm

Culpepper/Fred'berg is a nice area, when the little women and I go shopping or day tripping that's usually where we end up. We have similar weather in Southern Maryland, maybe 1-2 snowstorms a year that are significant, same with hurricanes or TS. Every once in awhile a tornado will row thru but not too often. The humidity and summer thunder storms are the big drawbacks weather wise.
