Extang Trifecta ??

When I put my new Extang on today in the Corner’s up near the cab I could still see a small air gaps on both sides right in the corners?? I tighten it down and repositioned a couple of times but can still see a very small gap. Anyone had this problem.

Also anyone use the MaxSeal on their tailgate? It came with my new Extang Trifecta but it seems the Tacoma's tailgate already closes pretty tight.

Same here. I get a little water, not much. The tailgate section seems to be tight. I will likely stuff some generic black foam type insulation in the gaps to see if that helps.

 

I may call Extang and see what they say. Everyones seems to really like the cover but I tried and tired and could still see a slight gap up in the front conners. The foam might do the trick also.

Extang IMHO is the most talked about extremly overrated ripoff. I've been trying to push people on this site into Advantage Accessories for a long time ago but no one listens. The dealership sells Extangs so everyone thinks they're the best.

Mine is a trifold hardcover vinyl tonneau that initially installs in about a minute. Uses factory bedrails and no drilling or hardware required. Install and removal always takes less than a minute. Advantage Accessories. No water intrusion btw.

 

I never notice any water in mine and have had it for almost 3 yrs in many seasonal conditions, rain, ice, snow. This past Sunday, it downpoured and snowed and didn't get any water in the bed. It has a little light in the corners close to the cab too that you described.

On my Tundra, I had an Access Limited roll top that melted because the vinyl wasn't coated properly. I still thought it was a good cover for the $$ but wanted a trifold on the tacoma in order to take the whole cover off easily & the priced was right at $300 shipped at the time. I'll admit, there are probably better options out there if you want a tighter looking cover.

Fwiw, I do not use the trail seal either.

Thanks for the info. Mine may not leak either. I just noticed the small light in the conners. Just got it on today so we will see when it rains. I'll probally leave the tail seal off for now and see how it does without it.

My Extang Trifecta is supposed to ship out today and be here on Tuesday. Cant wait to install it.

I've had it for around a year. Doesn't leak at all, and I don't have any light coming in? Check the foam corners for any defects. I don't use the tailgate seal, it's still in the plastic. Love the trifecta.

 

Love the cover and have used it in all weather conditions as well. You have to really be picky and reposition it to get the little gaps out. It takes time but it can be done. I take it on and off a lot during the summer so I'm not too picky. I don't get any leaks through that area but like I said it can be sealed. I love the cover and would recommend it to anyone

 

I ran one for two years (on my fathers Taco now) and had tiny gaps as well....Never let in any water to speak of but if you stop into any auto glass shop,you can pick up some self adhesive foam tape to seal the gaps.

 

Thanks I like that idea. I'l probally see how it performs in the rain and go from there. I picky most people would probally not even notice it if you're not looking for the gaps. Very small.

 

Well mine came in today. They said it would ship today but I guess they meant it would arrive today. I got it installed and didnt see any gaps. I had to mess with for a while to get it aligned just right. Mine did not come with the tailgate seal so I'll see how it performs without it.
