That's right behind my neighborhood. Not sure if we could get near it enough to see any filming though.

 

Convict is a great lake. Gets busy though. I'll check out Lake Mary and some others in the area. June lake last year was really low and didn't look like a pretty lake to fish especially on the entire west shoreline.

 

Salt River is open, plenty of brown trouts floating down it...

 

June lake is a bit farther north west-ish but it is really nice too. Also twin lakes and lake george.

 

We're referring to Mammoth Lakes in the Sierra Nevadas.

 

On the day after our hike, I'm thinking I'll send off the wife to a spa somewhere for the day while I head out to do some fishing. She hates it. Almost a deal-breaker!

 

I've only been to June a handful of times. We usually go there when the best mammoth lakes are crowded. I've always had luck there too.

It's pretty hard to not have good fishing up there. I absolutely killed it on huge brookies at Garnet Lake last summer.

Yup, SMR. I live right on the other side of Eastwing mountain and hike it at least 5 days a week. When it's not as hot out, I'll hit Westwing.

 

Bummer, we won't be there until early August. Hiking from Aug 6-11, then spending the night of the 11th in Mammoth and all day on the 12th. Leaving the 13th. We'll be in Independence on Aug 2-3.

 

Ouch. Just bought new windows and doors for my house.. I need a beer

 

Damn. I hope there's trout left out there for you after I've slayed them all. We usually go late May to mid June to avoid the crowds. I've also noticed after 4th July, the fish get super temperamental because the water has really warmed up. Hope you have luck in August.

 

Sit down and tell me where the bad people at Home Depot/Lowes touched you.

 

All of my trail fishing will be off the beaten path on the JMT and above 10,000'. Not an issue at all with that last August. I'm expecting Mammoth area lakes to have lots of tourists, but I'm a patient fisherman. I just love being out there.
