Haha, I tell myself I won't drink Tequila for similar reasons you won't drink vodka. Sometimes I'm not very convincing.

    Too many to list now.
I went to a scotch tasting last weekend and just discovered this thread today. How serendipitous! My favorite hands down is a Glenfarclas 25 year. Anything speyside is going to be my go to, with the occasionally islay thrown in. Laphroiag 10 year isn't bad but you've got to love the heavily peated stuff to get into the islays. Bruighladdich has some interesting stuff that they age much quicker than most scotches and achieve a super high concentration of peatiness. Not sure how they do it, but Bruighladdich sure is fun to say.

Well as people on here posted the Eagle Rare I saw it in the store and then found out it was made by buffalo trace and I have been pleased with their stuff in the past. Yup I now own a bottle and it's defiantly worth the price. Thanks guys:bananadead:

Still like my double oaked as a personal favorite but defiantly something I will be buying a replacement bottle of.

Anyone mention Bushmills (Irish) yet. Reasonable price and smooth.

For the Tennessee Whiskey guys, try Dickel sometime. Different but good.

Not sure how a bourbon can come from Iowa since all bourbon can only come from Kentucky. Or so my drunk uncle told me one time.

That's not exactly correct, most bourbon comes from Kentucky. But to be bourbon it has to have at least 51% corn, and aged in oak barrels for at least two years.

Didn't read the whole thread, but my favs for sipping straight-
    Eagle rare
    Jameson Black barrel
    Jameson w/ginger ale
    Woodford Reserve is pretty good

Just picked up a bottle of Jameson 18 year, haven't cracked it open yet, probably tomorrow

Have a Jameson black barrel aging in a 1L aging barrel, messed up and put a 12 year in first and the barrel soaked up pretty much the whole thing, so in a year that black barrel should be pretty tasty!

Also have my eyes on the 17 year Eagle rare, but its pretty hard to fi d, and the Rarest Reserve Jameson (21 year IIRC?), Both about 300 a bottle or so lol

The Federal Standards of Identity for Distilled Spirits (27 C.F.R. 5) state that bourbon made for U.S. consumption[18] must be:

Bourbon has no minimum specified duration for its aging period.[22] Products aged for as little as three months are sold as bourbon.[23] The exception is straight bourbon, which has a minimum aging requirement of two years. In addition, any bourbon aged less than four years must include an age statement on its label.[24][25]

Bourbon that meets the above requirements, has been aged for a minimum of two years, and does not have added coloring, flavoring, or other spirits may (but is not required to) be called straight bourbon.[26]

    • Bourbon that is labeled as straight that has been aged under four years must be labeled with the duration of its aging.[27]
    • Bourbon that has an age stated on its label must be labeled with the age of the youngest whiskey in the bottle (not counting the age of any added neutral grain spirits in a bourbon that is labeled as blended, as neutral-grain spirits are not considered whiskey under the regulations and are not required to be aged at all).[24]
Bourbon that is labeled blended (or as a blend) may contain added coloring, flavoring, and other spirits (such as un-aged neutral grain spirits); but at least 51% of the product must be straight bourbon.[28][29]
