No not yet, been looking at our camping calendar and we have 6 trips already planned and 2 of them are a week long. It may be one of those last minute trips to get away for a weekend end. I'll let you know if we go down.

I tow one of these when the weather is warm enough.

 

Why, it doesn't tow well when it's cold out?

 

A boat just like this. Mine will be done by early August, but the wife insisted we take a picture with the one he had finished in the shop.

 

That guy needs a truck or actual tow vehicle not a toy to tow with.

 

I just bought the same trailer and we're going to pick it up on Saturday. It's our first trailer and we're pretty excited.

I have a few questions...

• What is the measurement from ground to the top of the hitch ball receiver? (I need to go buy a trailer hitch ball but don't know which drop/rise to get.)
• Is there any wiring I need to do to make sure the trailer batteries are charging while I'm towing? I have DCSB / TRD Sport / tow package. The dealer salesman made it seem it was complicated but I thought he just wanted to get us to spend money at their garage shop. Is there anything I need to do at the fusebox for example? I have the 7 pin adapter near the hitch.
• Would you highly recommend getting a WDH?

If anything, please at least answer the first question as it is pretty urgent. Or I can't bring it home! haha

can't help you with the height measurement, my Casita with standard axles and 14" wheels prefers 17-19" from the ground to the top of the ball. with the trailer on level ground, adjust its nose jack til the frame is level or slightly nose-low. measure the distance from the ground to the top of the hitch reciever. thats ideally where the top of your ball will be, but when you put it on your truck without a WDH, your truck will sag significantly, just like you put 400+ lbs in the back of the bed. when hitched, you want the trailer basically level or slightly low in front. you never want the front high so the back bumper of the trailer is dragging low.

if you have the tow package, the trailer batteries should charge as long as its plugged into the 7-blade connector, and your tow vehicle engine is running, the Taco should be fully equipped fro that. there's a 30A fuse in the main fuse panel under the hood for the trailer BATT CHG power, along with a relay, so its only connected when the engine is running (that way the trailer can't drain your vehicle battery when the engine is off).

you DO need a brake controller, I'm using a Tekonsha Voyager, many folks recommend the Prodigy P3 (I think is the name?). this needs to be mounted within reach of the driver, and Tekonsha has a Toyota specific cable that will plug right into the harness behind the dashboard fuse panel thats on the left side of the under-dash. I mounted mine directly under the steering column and am now having 2nd thoughts, others mount them between the power outlets under the A/C controls. the brake controller HAS to be level left-to-right but can be tilted up (fore-aft) quite a lot, as it has a wide range of adjustment for 'level'.

I've heard the TRD Sport will be fine without a WDH as it has stiffer suspension and shorter sidewall tires than my access-cab 4x4 TRD Off Road... Take it for a test drive, go over some dips and bumps at low and higher speeds. if you feel excess up/down pitching, like a boat in high seas, a WDH will eliminate that. Did wonders for my TRD OR. I used this WDH,

I'm getting the Tekonsha 90160 Primus IQ Electronic Brake Control from Amzon tomorrow so I'll be installing that.

Yes, I have the tow package. I'll check under the hood for that amp and relay.

As for the WDH, I'm NOW researching how it works and I feel like I will need it. I once put some sheets of 1/2" and 5/8" Sheetrock in the bed and I almost popped a wheelie.



We're planning on a one-night camping trip in the middle of next week to use the travel trailer and practice pulling it!
