Which K&N?

Okay, so I have a stock 07 PreRunner and I want to get a better air filter for it. I know how everyone loves K&N air filters so my question is this, do I go with an air intake system or do I go with just a drop in filter? What are the pros and cons (aside price) of these two systems? What does everyone else have?

 

Drop in AFE DRY filter. K&Ns work alright..but that oil is just something that can make a mess- the AFE filters do not need to be oiled.

Get a drop-in first. If you like it....keep it. If you don't like it, sell it and go with something else.

I've used K&N drop-ins for years on various vehicles. If they're seated in your airbox properly, keep them cleaned regularly, and don't over-oil them...you shouldn't have any problems. I never had problems with the K&N's.

I went with AFE to try it (something different) and so I wouldn't have to keep buying cleaning kits for the K&N. I have noticed that the AFE is more restrictive than the K&N (K&N allows for more airflow).
